McMurphy has a stellar track record. I'll go with him on this one. No offense to Kurtenbach.

I wish that was the case with our past beat writers. Dieter is an outsider, Mizzou grad from Illinois. He's been very informative and interactive with his reports. Really happy to have him on our side. But again, his happened on Tuesday, and before I make a fool out of myself again, I want to know the term of the agreement, of they've been reached yet.

Hearing that from MTSU lessens my guard on this report, a lot! MTSU and FAU are connected here, so if Middle is saying they're jumping, than we are too.

Article states that everything should be "official" by Feb 1.

The announcement pretty much has to be February 1st, as conference schedules are supposed to be out by Mid-February..(at least I think that was the timeline they gave)

I've been told #FAU and #MTSU will not pay the #SunBelt one million dollar exit fee. Both schools negotiated a value between $600-700k.

Wow, did Benson have a change of heart!? How did he go from pissed off at us to settling down? Is there going to be an OOC schedule contract to come out of this?

And as another poster said, if necessary that amount can be advanced by C-USA and repaid by partially withholding conference payouts over the next couple of years. Not difficult. I don't know why the BE can't do the same for ECU and Tulane.

According to Kurtenbach, FAU and MTSU will both be in CUSA this season. He's not disputing that it will happen, just that it isn't official yet. It's a matter of how much both end up paying. Basically, both schools want to pay less then the $1 million exit fee and are trying their hardest to avoid it, but will end up paying if they have to. Everyone seems to be waiting to see what happens in the Big East over the next week or so to decide how to proceed.
Bottom line, both FAU and MTSU will be in, but the announcement may be a while longer.

Big East doesn't want to split this year's BCS money with two more teams.

Not bad.
Man - once ODU and Charlotte join, that makes 8 football programs that were not even in existence when the league formed in 1996.
Only Southern Miss and UAB are left from the original 12. Back in the late 90s when Bower went 21-2 in league play and tied/won 3 C-USA titles, I never would have predicted this outcome.
