Haven't really gotten a timetable the last I'd heard. As needed, basically. We'll add temp seating for a total seating capacity between 20-15k, I believe; but, we'll look to attendance and winning before deciding to make the 40k expansion.

Gotcha. I'll have to make a trip down. Lot's of displaced West Virginians in NC. Should have a good Marshall crowd there.

We'd love to have you! Charlotte is a great city (in my own, completely unbiased opinion ) and hopefully you'd have a great time. If you plan on making the trip, hit us up on the message boards (we'll all have suggestions) either here or at Ninernation.net (visiting fans always welcome).

RE: About Charlotte's stadium
As another Marshall fan, I'll be targeting a trip to Charlotte this coming football season, if at all possible, with plans to attend a game. I love the look of your new stadium and while I feel it's too small, I understand that the construction plans were finalized well before Charlotte's invite to CUSA. Best of luck in your inaugural season!

I believe we have it in the budget for 2015 or 2016. Whether it happens then is a different story

It will happen only when we have butts to put in those extra seats. Hopefully, that will be sooner rather than later.

Now that an ODU fan is here what about you guys? I know you all sell-out regularly and planned on expanding. How is that coming? How will it work with the unique way your stadium is built?

I think expansion plans are due to be released this spring for ODU.
I am very interested to see how they will approach it. Simply filling in the endzone should boost them to 25,000ish, although I imagine they'll go beyond that since they have so many people on the waiting list for tickets.

Finding a way to do two upper decks shaped the way the seats are now on each side would look pretty cool.

Yep. Ryan Field (Northwestern U) has a stadium shaped like ODU's with a second level. I like the way their upper level looks.

I think it's actually early Summer. We've been working on a campus-wide master plan and it will include stadium expansion plans, as well.
From past comments by Selig, our athletic director, we will probably end up with a stadium holding 35-40k. How we will go about doing that is unknown to regular fans at this time.

Ah okay thanks for the clarification.
35-40k is probably about right. That is what we're planning as well. It's a good size for most programs not in the SEC, Big 10, or Big 12.

I just realized that everything shown in that rendering is now built or almost finished but the stadium expansion. The growth at UNC Charlotte has been unreal.

If we stick to that exact plan for stadium expansion, we will have a really beautiful stadium. I love all the arches. Beats the hell out of all metal erector set stadiums. They do the job, but they don't look quite as nice.
