Anyone else here a hockey fan and pay even a little attention to any of the hockey teams? I'm excited for a Big Ten conference for hockey, just wish we had more than 6 teams.

If Rutgers wasn't focused on upgrading its existing programs to be Big Ten level/reducing our subsidy from the University I'd say we should explore adding Men's and Women's teams. I'd also say instead of updating/renovating our beloved RAC build a new arena in downtown New Brunswick where the Feren Deck is being torn down. Have it seat 9K for hockey and 10.5K for basketball. But the situation is what it is. We are going to make a $30 million renovation to the RAC which also includes adding dedicated, State of the Art practice facilities for our basketball teams. To me that seems more like a stopgap. There's an increasing amount of youth hockey talent in New Jersey, not enough to support a Big Ten caliber team but there's enough in adjacent areas (New England, upstate NY, PA) to use NJ talent to fill in the gaps.

I watch BTN frequently. Seems like I mainly cath the Golden Gophers play on TV. I doubt with all the expansion prosepects that the B1G will pick many more hockey playing schools. Maybe Rutgers . . . maybe.

Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Purdue, Indiana have wrestling and gymnastics that get more focus. I'd love to see some of the traditional B1G schools pick up hockey.

Also forgot that the Hockey City Classic will be held here in Chicago on Feb 17. Should be a pretty good double header.
