if the 2 conferences merged they would probably want a GoR to seal the deal. I'm not sure if everyone knows everyone else well enough to do the GoR thing. And without a GoR, it's just not the same, especially if Maryland breaks free from its fence.

That decision will provide the way forward for the rest of expansion. With ESPN delivering both the SEC and ACC, the real question become what is the ideal configuration the WWL wants for both conferences.

If they plus up the ACC to around 20-22 mil, it should be enough to placate Tobacco Rd. With 14 being a truly terrible number for CFB, the question is will the SEC, ACC and B1G happily wait around for 13 yrs for the B12 GOR to expire or will several from the Go5 get the golden ticket?

The SEC is the only one of the Five Power Conferences that hasn't dipped into the minor leagues to expand.

Everyone has a different take on conference realignment.

Mine is that a natural progression to the Dodds/Swarbrick relationship, the "scheduling alliance" talks between the ACC and Big 12 and the fact that ND has not renewed the NBC contract despite Jack Swarbrick said months ago they were "close" (now, silence) is a possible merger between the Big 12 and ACC.

I'll run with that one in my head for a while until some event convinces me otherwise. :)
