I know this is going to probably draw responses I really hate to see get started and hope that it won't, but I think we all are interested and this article could help us see that the Big East is going to undergo a name change as many here (myself included) have predicted since the departure of the C7 was announced.

New conference name is rather obvious isn't it.....

I don't know what response(s) you're dreading, but the only one I have is, you know there's a Big East board where I bet they'll find this interesting, right?

All the contract did was set aside some $$ to sell the new name if there was one. Didn't say there would or wouldn't be a new name. Likely depends on how much the c7 is willing to pay for it.

It seems at this board anything posted about the Big East turns into a battle no matter how factual the original post is. I know there is a Big East board but if you read the article you see it also mentions C-USA so if you want to question the validity of posting it here, then count that as the reason, but truth is we have many here that are interested in what happens with our former and departing members so I feel it justified to be posted here.

Honestly, the current name makes no sense today and there are really only 6 teams that really care about this.

Return of the metro conference? Everyone except ECU is in a medium sized to large metro area, so it is pretty fitting.

Maybe I should have just said, "I don't care" in the interest of brevity.

maybe selling the name is where the gazillions of $$$$ in revenue that they have been talking about for months is going to come from.

How about after they sell the Big East name to the C-7 we could sell them the "Conference USA" name.....then once we collect our dough from selling the CUSA name and get the $6.6 Million from each school for the exit fees we could buy the "Big East" name from the C-7!

I'm pretty sure that recently I've read multiple posts stating there was no way the C-7 would keep the name, and if they did it, it would cost them dearly.

So, I guess we can expect the NBE to

A.keep the name

B.lose the name but receive a windfall of cash

C. neither happens and those same posters do damage control stating how changing the name was so obvious and how we can all blame ESPN for undermining them.

Honestly, do you just google Big East every few minutes to discover news about the BE. For someone who does not want your school to leave Conf USA for the BE you sure have a strange way of showing it. Me thinks you doth protest to much.

Tallgrass should start pimping his Big Splash name again.

Much about nothing. I guess the article is referring to a clause in the NBC contract that would have applied 2 million dollars toward marketing a new conference name if the C-7 ended up with the "Big East" name once the negotiations and legal proceedings of the split are done.

It's almost like they all went and formed a new conference.

Well have you heard of a reporter's right to keep his/her sources confidential?

Actually in full disclosure I have my google set to post on the news section several topics that I try to keep abreast of which one of those is conference realignment, and low and behold I saw that one posted on it. Also I follow what Mitch McConnell says and believe me I detest that man, but to be informed you learn about things you don't care about or like because to only get what you like is not being informed it's being propagandized.
