2013 ACC Football vs OOC
This has the potential to be ugly. Maryland omitted due to lack of caring.

Boston College: vs Villanova, @USC, vs Army, @NMSU
Clemson: vs UGAg, vs SCSU, vs Citadel, @USC-east
Florida State: vs Nevada, vs Bethune-Cookman, vs Idaho, @Florida
NC State: vs LA Tech, vs Richmond, vs CMU, vs ECU
Syracuse: vs Pedo State, @NWestern, vs Wager, vs Tulane
Wake: vs PC, vs ULM, @Army, @Vandy
Duke: vs NC Central, @Memphis, vs Troy, vs Navy
GT: vs Elon, @BYU, vs Alabama A&M, vs UGAg
Miami: vs FAU, vs Florida, vs Savannah State, @USF
UNC: @USC-east, vs MTSU, vs ECU, vs ODU
Pitt: vs NM, vs ODU, @Navy, vs Notre Dame
UVA: vs BYU, vs Oregon, vs VMI, vs Ball State
VT: (neutral) Alabama, vs WCU, vs ECU, vs Marshall

I cannot see a win:
Boston College: @USC
Clemson: vs UGAg, @USC-east
FSU: @Florida
Syracuse: vs Pedo State
Wake: @Vandy
GT: @BYU, vs UGAg
Miami: vs Florida
UNC: @USC-east
UVA: vs BYU, vs Oregon
VT: (neutral) Alabama

Toss Up:
Syracuse: @NWestern
Pitt: vs Notre Dame

Should win but you'll get no credit:
Boston College: vs Nova, @NMSU
Clemson: vs SCSU, vs Citadel
FSU: vs Bethune-Cookman, vs Idaho
NC State: vs Richmond, vs CMU
Syracuse: vs Wagner, vs Tulane
Wake: vs PC, @Army
Duke: vs NC Central, @Memphis
GT: vs Elon, vs Alabama A&M
Miami: vs FAU, vs Savannah State
UNC: vs ODU
Pitt: vs NM, vs ODU, @Navy
UVA: vs VMI, vs Ball State
VT: vs WCU, vs Marshall

Nothing to gain, everything to lose (shot of losing to lesser):
Boston College: vs Army
FSU: vs Nevada
NC State: vs LA Tech, vs ECU
Wake: vs ULM
Duke: vs Troy, vs Navy
Miami: @USF
UNC: vs MTSU, vs ECU
VT: vs ECU

Record against SEC:
0-8

Every ACC team would likely be a double digit underdog in their matchup against the SEC team if we did the did the odds today.

RE: 2013 ACC Football vs OOC
Week One:

Boston College: vs Villanova
Clemson: vs Georgia
Florida State: vs Nevada
NC State: vs LA Tech
Syracuse: vs Pedo State
Wake: vs Presbyterian
Duke: vs NC Central
GT: vs Elon
Miami: vs Florida Atlantic
North Carolina: @South Carolina
Pittsburgh: vs New Mexico
Virginia: vs BYU
Virginia Tech: (neutral) Alabama

The ACC will be dogs in 5 of those games .... and it is not off the table they lose as many as 7 or 8.

And who is the genius in the ACC who keeps accepting games in the Georgia Dome against Saban's Satanic Recruiting Machine on Week 1?

I think the only HEAVY favorites are Alabama over VT, UGAg over GT, and Oregon over UVa...

On the other hand, I think you are being too pessimistic about the other games. Keep in mind there was "no way" Ga Tech could beat USC in the Sun Bowl, "no way" Clemson could beat LSU in the Chick-Fil-A, and "no way" Louisville could beat Florida in the Sugar... I toss in the last one to show that the SEC is simply over-rated.

There's no doubt those bowl games got their attention. Will they be like a sleeping dragon which has been awakened... or more like a toothless old dragon whose best days are past?

Enjoy playing the unholy Sabanites... the team that greyshirts blue chips who would start at VT on day one.

It is about the ACC's reputation going forward. Anything UMD does this year won't count toward that. The ACC got more reputation credit from Syracuse beating Missouri than the Big East did.

I think that we can take PSU. State isn't the State of old, and this Syracuse team isn't the Syracuse teams of the mid '00's.

My prediction: #1
We will go 3-1 OOC and 4-4 in ACC play with a final record of 7-5 + bowl (plus or minus a game either way)

My prediction: #2
We will have a recruiting class in the top 35, but probs between 30-35.

My predicton: #3
SU finishes in the top 3 in the ACC in basketball (bold prediction, I know). I'm thinking #2.

My prediction: #4
SU lax returns to form in our first season in the ACC, but since the ACC doesn't sponsor lax, that only kind of matters.

My prediction: #5
Syracuse will be ranked within 3 years. Given that we have a (kind of) new coach and there is always some degree of uncertainty with new coaches, this actually is a bold prediction (unlike #3).

Pitt is breaking in a new QB as well. But, Panther fans everywhere may be rejoicing over that fact.

...when the German bombed Pearl Harbor...

Seriously though, conferences need 6 teams to get an AQ. The ACC has Duke, UNC, Syracuse, UVA, ND, and UMD, but only for a year.

EDIT
I should have been more clear. I meant sponsor to the fullest extent (i.e. enough to get an AQ). A 4 team lax conference seems more like a scheduling agreement. Every team made the ACC lax final four.

04-cheers

That stood out to me as well. I know Cuse has a new coach and QB but at some point the scholarship reductions will have an impact right? I don't expect to see PSU continue with 8-4 seasons.

1. Obviously the QB position is very important and that's a HUGE question mark. But take that out, and we have a good team. IMO, and I think that the vast majority of people would agree with me, we beat teams better than PSU last year. Actually, we have knocked off better teams each of the last 3 years*. Going from memory, we have wins against WVU, WVU, and UL, going from oldest to newest. I don't see why we couldn't this year. QB position aside, I think that we have a better team.

2. Yeah, I don't think that PSU is going to be as good this year as they were last year, and they lost to teams like UVA last year. UVA isn't horrible or anything, but they aren't any better than Syracuse. I know that was an early season game with a new coach, but my point is that PSU isn't a juggernaught (sp?) anymore. They will be again, but we have a decade before they return to super power status on the field. Until then, they just have a great name and a ton of money.

3. This game will come down to two things: 1) do we have a QB on the roster? and 2) can our coaching staff actually coach?

*Possibly 4, but I can't remember.
