memphis bbq question
I'm thinking of coming up for the UAB game next weekend & looking for a possible bbq place to eat afterwards. What's a good place to go? I know about some of the major names around town like Redevous, Interstate, Commissary, etc from being a bbq judge.

RE: memphis bbq question
Went last weekend, good BBQ everywhere.

Rendezvous, B.B. Kings and Silky O'Sullivan's are all real close to the forum and have pretty decent grub.

RE: memphis bbq question
I'm not from Memphis but I've been there numerous times. I like Blues City Cafe on Beale. Their ribs are meaty and tender. One non-bbq item they serve that is really good are their tamales. One of my friends with me the last time I was there (during the Liberty Bowl trip) ordered catfish. He said it was very good.

Think Rendezvous is a little overrated. Central BBQ is good. German Commissary is better, IMO.

I'm sure there are many other great places in Memphis that I haven't tried yet.

Blues City Cafe is a regular stop for me when I'm on Beale.

While a little bit away from the Forum, The BBQ Shop on Madison is another high quality BBQ place. BBQ bologna has become a favorite of mine just by trying it on the BBQ Shop sausage and cheese plate. While on Madison, if you're around there mid-day and want an unusually fresh, non-overcooked and very good vegie plate or conventional lunch, try the Trolley Stop on Madison.
