it's a odd the the conference hate Memphis so much, a team that is the only one good enough to actually make the ncaa tournament on a regular basis, that the allow other team to foul at will.
somehow the actual rules of basketball are suspended whenever the Tigers play another cusa team.
Yeah, and that's why Memphis is 15-0.
Winning is nice but I enjoy clean basketball. I'd rather lose a hard fought clean game where I knew both teams played their best that a diry foul laced game such as last night.

So me and the "experts" are wrong this time. Sorry for wasting your time.
I was surprised Memphis won tonight frankly.
Is Tim Floyd not a basketball "expert?" I'll take his opinion about what constitutes basketball over Pete Gillen's.
What Floyd tried to do last night shows use of intellect. Why would we try to go head-to-head and out-athlete the Tigers, which would surely set us up for failure? Instead, he came up with a strategy to help negate Memphis' advantage. And it almost worked. Sorry it's upset you so.

From the ElPaso times:
UTEP, a team that defends with an exclamation point, had the Tigers right where they wanted them -- locked into an eyeball-to-eyeball defensive slobber-knocker.
Slobber-knocker in basketball? That's not basketball and was clearly pointed out.
Floyd is a joke and he clearly doesn't want to be in El Paso. Good luck with that.

USM should change its nickname to the Crickets. The loud sound of people shilling for CUSA has evaporated and that's what we're left with... Crickets.

If you guys had gold and black for your team colors the media would call that "HAVOC".

Sorry for UofMBandGuy folks....not all Memphis fans are like this. UTEP has given Memphis all it wants...more than any other CUSA since Coach Pastner has been coach. I hope that what we learned from that game can be applied if we face another team who takes a similar defensive approach. Good luck for the rest of the season...(just not when yall face us)

Please ignore this thread. Yeah, it was a dirty physical game. Floyd is a smart coach.
Memphis won in a hostile environment , and is about to wrap up the regular season ranked and undefeated in conference play. Since 6BC fans know little of either of those concepts, they won't understand.

When exactly did CUSA East become a Tennessee Williams play?
"I was just sitting in my boudoir in my negligee sippin' on a julep when the brutes from Texas appeared and ravaged me. I feel a faintin' coming on."

Had any of the brutes from Texas actually ravaged us, that would be funny. Instead, they were stopped like anyone with Texas tags who happens to pass exit 20 on I40 east leaving Memphis.....which is unfortunately true and good travel advice for our Lone Star brethren....

Not kidding, Binks.....there is so much weed transported from Mexico to Texas and then all the way to DC on I40 that the 'Shelby County Welcoming Committee' pretty much considers Texas tags to be probable cause.

Memphis fans have no reason to complain. One game the calls did not go your way. Cry me a river! I have seen Memphis play several times in person over the years and on TV. You guys have been the dominant team for years and got all the calls. That is just the way basketball is when you have NBA talent. The best teams get all the calls. I don't like , but it is the nature of the beast. To whine about not getting calls in a few games is just ridiculous. You guys play 100 games and the calls will go your way in about 85 of them. Plus you won the damn game. Good grief!!!!

I don't agree with the OP. However, the 'Memphis gets all the calls' crap is tired. Memphis gets quite a few calls because of the offense they run. Dribble penetration and attacking the rim is going to create fouls. I. showed games last season where other teams shot 8-10 MORE free throws than Memphis. We had a game this season where FIVE Memphis players fouled out (name the last time ECU had five players foul out in a game).
This reeks of an SJ "ECU is just as good as everyone else in the league, they're just out to get us" post.

I do not think anyone is out to get us. In basketball, high school, college, NBA, the better team and better players get the calls. I played basketball in high school, in college and coach high school basketball. That is just a fact of life. I am not complaining, that's just the way it is. Sometimes if the lesser team is playing really good, being aggressive or playing at home, they may get more calls. But consistently, the better teams get the majority of calls.I am sure you can show stats all day about how other teams get more calls in some games, every squirrel gets a nut once in a while. If you take overall game stats for the season or seasons, I am sure you will find most times Memphis had the advantage. If and when teams like ECU continue to improve, win some big games, etc. etc. they will began to see more favor with the refs. UTEP was at home, they played decent, it was a sloppy game on both sides which lends to what occurred last night. Regardless, you still have nothing to whine about and ECU had 4 players foul out in a game earlier this year and consistently get crappy officiating, so you will get no sympathy from me.
