Well now this comment really intrigues me...

We were, along with many other Big XII schools, called the little sisters, and tag-a-longs...by Texas, OU, and Nebraska. Imagine that. Missouri had all that power all the time and a Longhorn fan has admitted it publicly. The B1G - Mizzou issue was a two-way street, by the way... The Cornhuskers just had a sexier skirt, and tighter lips... Do you seriously think Nebraska didn't have an active dialogue with the B!G?

The real story is this: When the Aggies made their intentions public ( and good for them), The Texhoma four set the wheels in motion to blow up the Big XII, but the lilly pads they jumped on sank. Oops. time to go home and make amends. Remember when Mizzou got serious about the SEC? It was precisely when this all happened on a Friday in Norman, while Missouri's Prez was heading a committee to find a replacement for A&M. 04-coffee

You are all wrong. The first event that happened was the B1G announced it was going to expand. Multiple Mizzou officials, including (I believe) the governor, publicly insulted schools like Texas Tech and talked about how much better it would be to be in the B1G (and I agree).

Missouri was the 2nd most populous Big 12 state after Texas. Mizzou has never done anything that mattered on the court or the field but in terms of TV, it was so valuable to the Big 12 that many thought the conference wouldn't survive if it left. So EVERY Big 12 school started exploring its options, we had chaos, & the league was saved by the GOR.
Never did anything on the court or field? What has Texas done lately. Mizzou won the Big XII BB Championship last year, and went to seven straight bowl games before leaving. Awesome? No, but as repectable as UT has been lately.

You are welcome. Sincerely, I am rooting for the Big XII to be awesome. CFB and CBB needs the Big XII. My daughter was born in Texas and I love Texas. She is a rabid Longhorn fan. It's all good for us all now. I hope this expansion ends soon so we can move on.

RE: TSN Sept 2011/Texas drove everyone away, now begging for ACC acceptance
In addition to flirting with the PAC et al, UT was also floating rumors of a possible run at independence, which was probably nothing more than a negotiating tactic with the PAC/LHN issue. I would wager that BYU's decision to go independent, with an immediate multi-game scheduling agreement with UT, would not have happened without some encouragement from UT. I wonder how strong that encouragement was and if the BYU admin was expecting an independent UT.

Mizzou got a trophy. Did Texas win a trophy? I am just replying to unfounded comments that somehow Texas is so much more accomplished than Missouri, or anyone else in the Big XII for that matter. Just riding an old reputation. The Longhorn reputation bank is just about empty...

Obviously you are right. Missouri got all of 10 titles in the Big 12. Only Kansas St. with 7 had fewer. Baylor has 49. Texas 117. Nebraska is still 2nd with 72.

Texas is 3rd in the BCS era in AP poll appearances. Missouri is 33rd. And what bowl did Missouri go to last year?

If you want to talk mindless trash, there are other boards for that.

I believe the point here is what have ya done lately. And one man's trash is another man's treasure. Haven't seen any FB/BB trophies in the case in Austin lately either, and with the Aggies now taking more and more Texas recruits I don't see it getting better. 04-cheers
