Oh I can't wait to hear the actual details of this. If the trend of Big East news continues it will somehow be worse than we are all imagining.

At this point the money is so low it's become a non-factor IMO. Just hope now that Memphis' basketball team gets plenty of prime time coverage on ESPN and CBS. That's where the real value now lies with this media contract -- as I see it at least.

So Conference TBA will get roughly $14M from ESPN for football for 2013, the $6M from ESPN for basketball for 2013-2014, then $2M from CBS for basketball for 2013-2014. But then after Rutgers and Louisville leave (and Tulane and ECU arrive), the deal stays the same/year? Seems odd.

I am interested in learning about the Fox and CBS deals plus the exposure terms.

Someone please post a great "popcorn eating" gif for me. I am on my phone and am unable to do so, but that is how I feel.

To clarify, the six years at all sports remains at $20 million per year. The 2012-13 year will have 10 members earning $600K per school in MBK from ESPN, plus whatever the football deal was worth separately. Plus whatever CBS was willing to pay.

Set your expectations really low. The actual CBS/Fox deal will be somewhere below that.

Does this really lower the per school 'take' since there are now fewer mouths to feed?

Actually, no. It increases the per school take because now that $20M only has to be split 10 ways instead of 18.

How many members would there have been in the bridge year for basketball? 18?

$10m / 18 = $555K

$6m / 10 = $600K

A little more money in everyone's pocket.

Set them as low as you can possibly imagine, and the end result will probably still be worse.

$20 million wasn't being split in '13-'14 for MBK. $10 million was. This was the MBK bridge contract while the football contract was in its final year.

$10m / 17 = $588K

A little more money in everyone's pocket.

So this is actually good rather than bad news. 03-wink

You forgot ND was to be in the bridge year, too.

True, being on ESPN, ESPN2, and CBS is what's important not only for program exposure but for recruiting at the elite level.
