a different hypothetical big east tourney format...
i was just wondering what people would think about changing the big east tournament to include all sixteen teams, and playing the first round on the home floor of the higher seeds.
i personally would like that better because it would decrease the amount of time people need to be in new york by one day. that's one less day that all the players have to be on the road away from campus.
it would also give the higher seeds another home game. that could result in more $$$ for the league.
that's really all i have. the conference tournament isn't as important to the big east as it is to several other leagues because hell will freeze over before there is a year where the big east regular season champion would need the automatic bid to get them in. so in that aspect, i guess it really doesn't matter how they format it. as a fan, i personally would just like it if all 16 teams were in it.

Not all Big East schools have clearance to play home games on short notice--Georgetown, for example, is dependent on the NBA and NHL schedules at MCI (Verizon) Center.
Another real problem is if you're selling ticket packages to 16 schools, half of them will have no reason to go to the tournament.
12 works fine. If you're ijn the bottom four, traveling to NYC to get walloped by a UConn or Villanova isn't a good use of anyone's time.
