All sports.
Wish they had asked if ECU's all-sports membership was also on Aresco's desk.
I'm pretty sure that's a done deal. There's almost nobody in the media who doubts this will happen.
So why, in a statement made today about basketball contracts, is language like this used???
Quote:Beginning with the 2014-15 academic year, the Conference will consist of the University of Central Florida, the University of Cincinnati, the University of Connecticut, the University of Houston, the University of Memphis, Southern Methodist University, the University of South Florida, Temple University and Tulane University. East Carolina University will be a football-only member. The U.S. Naval Academy will become a football-only member in 2015.
Can you blame a Pirate for not liking the way this has been handled?

Quote:As for the new name – which is necessary because the Catholic 7 took the “Big East” handle in the divorce -- the league recently presented membership officials with several possibilities to consider.
“The America, the Metro, Collegiate, the United – it covered everything,” said a source with knowledge of those discussions.
The source wasn't sure whether “Collegiate” or “United” Conferences were realistic names but said the above quote spoke to the wide-ranging nature of the brainstorming sessions among members. "America" and "Metro" have been reported as potential names.
The Collegiate? Boy, that's just awful.
I am pretty sure Collgiate and United will modify America or Metro.
Examples
Metropolitan Collegiate Conference
United Metro Conference.

RE: Decision on Tulsa "on Aresco's desk"
What they are basically trying to say here is that Tulsa has been "pre approved" by the presidents to join the Aresco League.
I think what is holding the Tulsa invite back is they are waiting to select a name. Once they have a name in place then Tulsa will be invited to join the newly named conference.
Tulsa has the most tradition of any school remaining having made almost 20 bowl games in its history including some high level ones in the new playoff system. They are also by a large margin the strongest FB program left in CUSA and increase the gap between the Aresco League and CUSA all that much more.
The Sun Belt decided they just couldn't wait any longer on expanding because its only 2 months until the June 1st deadline for FCS schools to declare their intent to move to FBS. Who knows, it may not be until June until Tulsa's finally added and that would be too late for the SBC.

I agree it sounds awful, but it is the facts at the moment. I think the revelation of ECU's all-sports invite will come with the announcement of the name and the announcement of the 12th member next month. I don't agree with the timing of all of this, but I think they would prefer to make all the announcements at once to make a bigger splash.
