The American is as good as The Orange

The name sucks, but honestly any name was going to have detractors and people that hated it. American Metro, American Pie 4th of July, Big Metro all would've sucked too.

Somebody mentioned Eastern Athletic Conference, that would've been the best in my book. Of course, somebody who have hated that name too.

No win situation. Time to move on, more realignment awaits.

The name conveys no energy, no sense of identity, no enthusiasm. It's about as blah, generic, and nondescript as anyone could possibly imagine.

Now that you mention it, AA Conference makes it sound like a high school division

That should have been the name. An homage to the old Big East.

"Eastern" Athletic would been stupid considering multiple teams are west of the Mississippi River and further western expansion hasn't been ruled out.

I wonder if this was going to be the name of the MWC-CUSA merger conference a couple years back?

That never came to fruition and they're trotting AAC out again.

When I see AA Conference, I think of a conference like Big Sky, Southern - not an I-A Conference

every school in the conference is in the Eastern half of the continental states. Mississippi river is not the halfway point unless you are living in the era right after the Louisiana Purchase...
