Rhetorical question but it's mind boggling to think how a program with that history and amount of resources was regarded as lowly as they were not that long ago only to come back so strong now.

They stopped paying their players.

By the way, it ticked me off to no end that they kept referring to this as Michigan's first team in 20 years to make the Final Four. What do the NCAA record books say? And are there any banners hanging in their stadium? No! You got caught cheating, you don't get to claim the victories, and CBS shouldn't claim them for you.

Yeah but Tommy Amaker had some good teams. It's hard to believe it took them so long to regain form but then again, my program went 18 years between Tourney appearances and hasn't been the same since Akeem left for the NBA. Now he's enshrined in the Hall-of-Fame.

Look what Amaker has done at Harvard, talk about a miracle worker. Winning any tourney games with those academic restrictions is 04-jawdrop

The lengthy NCAA investigation caused recruits to look elsewhere. Michigan would have been better off in the long run to just accept the NCAA punishments and end it. Tom Izzo benefitted big time from this.

They did the same with with Calipari last year. They kept calling it his third Final 4, conveniently forgetting that his first two were revoked.

Media outlets continually try to take the high road when schools commit NCAA violations, but how is anyone supposed to take the penalties seriously when the media disregards them?

And I wouldn't be suprised if last year's title is vacated as well. Calipari doesn't know how to win without cheating.
