Thanks for the info. We ended up with DT Aiken transferring in as a fifth year senior last year. Is there any word on possible fifth year transfers being interested in UC for this year?

Haven't heard anything. Still a ways to go, though. Many guys wait until after spring practices to decide whether they want to transfer.

Any truth that there are a couple fifth year transfers joining the team soon?

Why are people assuming this guy is transferring to play football? Is UC really scouring the D3 ranks for talent? If so, not a great sign. Especially if this is the best guy they could get. Has UC ever even had a D3 transfer make the roster?

does it really matter? Cant a kid have bigger dreams than D3? Cant he be a walk on? Who said anything about it being the best we could get? I dont see how it is a bad sign that a kid wants to attend this university for football or not... Is it not possible for a D3 guy to be any good?

Just because he might be transferring to UC doesn't mean he will necessarily be offered a scholarship to play football. He might be transferring to UC for a certain academic program and possibly have an opportunity to walk-on if he cuts the mustard.

I imagine he is walking on if he plans to play football. He could just be transferring to UC without any plans of playing football.

Fred Jackson was a pretty good DIII running back.

His name escapes me at the moment but UC had a tranfer from Ashland College that was a Defensive line starter for 2 or 3 years and played for the NE Patriots... for others that are long time fans please jog my memory.

Not that it's common, but some guys are late bloomers - especially physically. A guy may not look like a D1 talent when scholarships get handed out before the end of high school. That may change a year into college. Again, not the norm, but I'm sure it happens.

I actually saw Wittenberg play this year in the playoffs at Mount Union. Much like Mount Union, there are some very talented players on the field. Most of them were very good in high school, but were undersized and not offered by D-1 schools.

Any word on potential basketball transfers? I would think we'd be hearing some things really soon.

Even today in the age of over exposure as far as recruiting goes lots of talent goes un-noticed and not offered... UC has a few past players that were not offered by anyone, walked on at UC and had careers in the NFL after college days.
