RE: ACC tv deal going up to 20mil
Help me out with this:

$20 million media deal with GOR + ACC Network $ + Orange Bowl $ + additional Bowl $ + Playoff $ = Total Team per year payout?

Anything I am missing?

15 teams creates a big problem with scheduling and a title game. Main reason Louisville could not leave and join the ACC with Maryland still there.

That is the same as the SEC, the Big Ten, the Big XII, and the Pac 12. Averages are always reported. It's not like it's just an ACC thing. For example, the SEC TV payout last year was less than $16 million.

If/when the ACC looks for #16, none of those three will be in the crosshairs.

a) If its inclusion means Notre Dame increases its commitment to 8 FB games, then Navy is on the menu.

b) If Texas calls tomorrow (or 2017, or 2025) and informs Swofford of its desire to join, and play 6 games against ACC football members AND allows the ACC to pick the schools (like ND has agreed to), Texas is on the menu. Given what the Texas AD said last year to some boosters, this isn't far fetched.

c) If for some crazy reason, Penn State decides it has more in common with its eastern brethren and has the money to get out of the B1G, Penn State is on the menu.

Otherwise, the ACC will be happy at #15, its football-playing members will happily cash $20M+ checks from ESPN each season (at least into 2017, the look-in year when that $$ amount will increase), plus whatever checks it gets from the NCAA through the basketball tournament.

UConn doesn't have the votes. They'd be fighting a death match for no reason.

USF -- they bring nothing to the ACC that the ACC doesn't already have, AND the league has demonstrated the ability play postseason activities in Tampa.

Cincy -- I like them. However, they don't bring anything into the league that it doesn't already gain through the presence of ND, Louisville, and to some degree, Pitt.

I have a similar stance... Suppose ACC get Texas + Cincy; recruiting would be off the charts

If the Acc could land Texas, the wouldnt have to settle for Cinci. Bigger fish would likely be available.

Comments from the FSU school president, Eric Barron:

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/bl...57931.post

Quote:The grant of media rights deal was announced by the ACC on Monday afternoon after it was agreed upon by the conference's Council of Presidents. Per the announcement, the deal will go in effect immediately. Member schools will reportedly begin receiving compensation north of $20 million annually, beginning July 1.

Barron said he couldn't speak to the amount of revenue FSU and other programs would be receiving, but he said it was "a significant increase."

ACC schools previously were scheduled to make approximately $17 million this year after a new television deal with ESPN that was announced last year.

Wait...Notre Dame was supposed to bump you guys to 19 million just by themselves. You sign a Granting of Rights and only get 1 million for it?

Oh this just keeps getting better! 03-lmfao

I mean, ACC guys are actually gloating and celebrating 20 million a year. Well done guys! Well done! Congrats on your stability!

Well I am sure the payout the ACC schools will receive is before bowl money, conference championship money, NC2A credits and what ever else. So ESPN is going to pay each school well over 20 million each for what that exact number is is anyones guess, but it was stated OVER 20 million before any other additional money. So realistically the ACC could be seeing payouts of up to or over 30 million to each school. Do the math that is a lot of cash that's not the BigTen or SEC.
