I saw that last week....Totally crazy. It looks like all the engines must have stopped working at once.

Looked like he pitched up hard and the cargo wasn't properly strapped down. All the weight slammed to the rear of the plane making it pitch up well beyond the flight capabilities ... like a 70-80 degree pitch up. No more air moving over wings. No more lift. Gravity does the rest.

Yeah I saw this last week too and from what I've read that's exactly what they think happened. Scary crazy.

I saw it last week too. Totally surreal. Makes you recognize just how much goes into transporting all of this hardware halfway across the world. I'm surprised we haven't had more of these incidents over the past 12 years of war.

That would be a nightmare to have been on that plane when you realized something was going wrong and that you were crashing. That video looks like it is straight out of a movie.

I also read that, in places like Afghanistan and Iraq, planes take off at a steeper angle so that they get higher, quicker, so that they get out of range of RPGs, etc.

When I worked at FedEx, I was responsible for aircraft ops at our ramp. It is amazing how weight and balance can ruin a few pilots day. We double checked securing cargo. I have unloaded a bird or two though when I found a "can" loose. Pilots would go ballistic and someone was going to get fired. You can google a couple of pics of planes sitting on their ass because some dip-stick didn't properly load/unload the plane or didn't put proper equipment in place. http://www.aviationpics.de/ramp/ramp
