OT: College Conference Draft at Cuse Board
4 SuperConferences being formed in a draft. Might be something this board could do for fun and then have a vote on the best conference.

http://syracusefan.com/threads/2nd-annua...aft.52268/

4 posters will be drafting 16 team college conferences in snake draft format. There are a few changes this year 1. their are no anchor teams like last year 2. two new participants TexanMark, Arbitragegls are joining Bees and Kaiser in drafting the conferences taking my slot and JackBauer44's slot. The guidelines will be
1. The draft is 17 rounds, you draft 16 NCAA Division 1 universities/colleges and 1 Commissioner for your conference.
2.To draft the best overall athletic conference can you.
3.This conference has to be able to command as high a TV contract as you can generate.
4. 80% of TV money comes from Football, 20% comes basketball, and remember a lot of TV sets increases the chances of forming a TV network. So remember football matters more than basketball
5. Try to protect rivalries that much sense economically for your conference depending on teams you draft.
6. Academics matter, but are not an important factor.
7. Setup your divisions with your conference when your done, and if you have any protected games good luck.

After you select your school give a 1/2 sentence explaining your selection. The draft order in odd rounds will be 1. Mark 2. Bees 3. Kaiser 4. Arb, and in even rounds in reverse 1.Arb 2. Kaiser 3. Bees 4. Mark

Round 1, TexanMark you are on the clock.

I think your divisions or pods need to make some geographical/cultural sense. Mine are coming along quite nicely.

3 of the conferences are much stronger than the fourth, so far, IMO.

I think TCU gets selected in the second session...should go in the 14th or 15th round.

Thats cool...should be no more than one school representing per conference. Since this board is more inclusive...should we go for 6 conferences of 16?

BTW, I'll watch from the sideline.

RE: OT: College Conference Draft at Cuse Board
Miami (fl) went 38th? Arb could have closed out Florida if he took Miami with the 37th pick (instead of Maryland) and had a perfect pod of Florida, Florida State, Miami, and Georgia Tech.

Also, Kaiser taking UVA at 30 was way too high. They'd still be available and he has no other schools around them to make a pod with. He also took South Carolina at 27. Yeah they've had a couple of decent years but they are one of the losingest major programs of all time. Why not take Rutgers or Temple? They're better than they have been historically too.

Some Fantasy Fan could make a nice snake draft of 6 teams...also make your 17th pick the Commissioner. The Cuse picks are winding down...some surprises

Boise, UConn, Rutgers, Pitt still undrafted going into the last round.

Even with 6x16 I think you could put together a better conference than Arb's. The other three selected pretty wisely.

Once you guys select the teams for your conferences, you should compete against one another throughout the year to see how each other's conference fair athletically and academically with one another's conference....

That would be pretty cool...however it might skew the results to draft the teams with the best chance to get wins in '13. For example...Kansas or Maryland might be left out over someone selecting a lesser known brand name projected to win 9 games in a GoF conference.

BTW, schools left out of the 64: Rutgers, Northwestern, Boston COllege, Wake Forest. Boise, UNLV and SDSU selected from the MWC along with BYU. Notre Dame was picked #2. Texas was #1.

I guess Rutgers being left off the Cuse fan draft isn't really a suprise. UConn also but they're probably borderline anyway.

Duke went pretty suprisingly low.

And seriously that 4th conference looks pretty weak compared to the other 3.

Also, Baylor not drafted.

The first and third are the strongest drafts with the 2nd right behind and the last one a distant fourth, IMO.

LOL I agree...Cuse went about where I thought but in reality probably a round too soon. Rutgers is a perennial loser in almost everything and only brings value to a cable box counting conference. The school is heavy in debt and the recent scandals do not help. UConn has a huge negative with little FB tradition despite a strong BB brand...Boise is able to overcome this (lack of FB tradition) with winning BCS games. If BB was more important UConn would've made the cut and been picked up in the mid rounds.
