Tough choice there. Nebraska seems like a perfect fit for the Big Ten.

As much as I'd like to be on that level, App State and ECU will never be looked at as equals in UNC's eyes.

Yes I think ECU and ASU are above Chapel Hill. Neither has an inflated opinion of itself.05-stirthepot

Well, that's true.

I have thought for a while that Auburn would really be a great cultural fit in the ACC, especially with the Louisville add. Auburn fits like a glove with FSU, Ga. Tech, and Clemson especially.

I would almost call that funny, but the ACC doesn't need us. At Auburn they call Clemson Auburn with a lake. And that's a compliment. It simply means the ACC already has an Auburnesque school. Small town atmosphere with a major university in a beautiful setting.

Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, and Tulane being on drop lists tells us one thing: small private schools in the south have little to no value in the eyes of potential viewers.

Fun thread.

ACC: Drop no one, add WVU and ND full-time. Stop at 16.

Perfect.

Yeah, we've talked about this before, JR. Auburn is ideal in the SEC, but they would also have fit great in the ACC. Ole Miss, for example, would be an awful fit in the current ACC. They would not transition well. Auburn's brand and culture would fit in with the SEC or ACC.

To be fair, though, that is in comparison to the largely successful and popular flagship schools within their states. Out west, private schools not named USC, Stanford, and BYU are relegated to the WCC or lower. Private schools get more love in the northeast because they are not often competing with athletic giant flagship schools. Also, Baylor, TCU, Miami, and Duke are southern private schools geographically and do not have huge enrollments, and they are pretty popular. Anyway, I think a lot of the Tulane swap for USM on this board is the large presence of USM fans around here.

RE: Drop One/ Add One
Personally, while I have great respect for Southern private universities, I would rather have a public school that has a brighter future, higher enrollment, affordable tuition, etc... over a private school that lives in the past, has an enrollment less than 15K, and tuition that only the richest in the area can pay.
For example, an USF (with an OCS) or UCF over Miami
An LaTech or Louisiana over Tulane.
