If you do a google search, you may be able to find them. This database is missing a few schools.

I'm blown away that Syracuse and Tulane didn't call each other peers - they're both private schools ranked right next to each other. Furthermore, Tulane sent a number of kids to the Orangemen during the Katrina semester - and most came back with very favorable reviews of the university.

(UT arrogance is always great for a laugh. A&M is not good enough to recognize as a peer but Michigan State, a school virtually identical to us but located across the country and ranked a little lower than us IS! Of course this happened in 2010 so someones feelings were probably still a little hurt 03-lmfao)

With Texas and Georgia, they use metrics from those peer schools to compare how they are doing.

Texas has never considered A&M a peer. A partner with the legislature and the PUF, yes. Peer, no. The Big 10 schools tend to have very broad programs which was not historically the case with A&M.

At VT they use them to compare as well. A lot of the faculty pay decisions are made by comparing to the schools they list as peers.

Outside of U.S. News & World Report and similar rankings, has anyone taken a stab at drawing lines that group truly peer institutions? Maybe it would be more of a Venn Diagram than independent groupings, but still interesting.

So... Michigan State, ie the Michigan Agricultural College, a school nearly identical to A&M and in fact ranked below A&M in USNWR, is more peer worthy because they are in the Big 10?

Alrighty then.
