RE: Marshall v. Miami (O). Is it too early to gear up?

I'm not sure it was Doc, this time, although I understand why you would go there. Even Cato said, (Herald Dispatch article) that the players were the ones that let their collective foot off the gas, not the coaches. He also said that he didn't play as well as he should've.
Honestly, that was my impression as I watched the game. I remarked, at several points, mid-game, that the team just looked lazy and uninspired.

It also seemed that after we got up, Cato started trying to force stuff to Shuler at times. At other times he had people open underneath and was trying to force things deep.
I thought our defense played good considering the TOP and some of the situations we put them in.

I agree; seems like the players let- up.
.... the players being motivated and inspired... is kind of the cozches job. Cato said what he is supposed to say. You ever gonna hear a kid come out and say "the coaching held us back... " NOO. He did that in the ucf game as a freshman, getting all over legg and was benched. He learned his lesson.
That being said, it goes 2 ways. Playcalling AND execution. We did neither psrticularly well, and the team came out of the half like they could cruise to a win (on both olayers and coaches) and miami was obviously cosched up at half and came out with a clear gameplan and resolve. I sat there and worried to death we were gonna lose the game until that late lucky run td by johnson.

Meh, the performance was not what I'd like to have seen from us, but it is still a win. At no point in the game was did I fear Marshall losing. Miami is an improved team that didn't roll over and quit when it would have been easy for them to do. I look for The Herd to be more aware next time, and not have the intensity dump that it suffered in the late 2nd and entire 3rd quarter. Good luck on the rest of the season Redhawks, you have a fine QB on your hands.

Had a good time in Oxford. The Miami team is much improved under coach Martin. All you Miami fans need to get out and support that guy and the team. I couldn't believe how bad the support was on opening day with a new coach, qb and other ND transfers. Both coach Martin and the players deserve better and I hope the Miami fans step up. You guys have a fine QB. I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that Miami wins at least 5 games this year.....might even be good enough to win 6 games and get bowl eligible.
To the Miami fans.....I met a lot of nice people in Oxford on Saturday. No problems whatsoever. Thanks for the hospitality.

If you didn't fear us losing when it was 28-20 ? and we had several 3 and outs and miami had all the momentum, i dont feel like you had a good feel for the pulse of the game. We could have easily lost if DJ didnt get lucky on that 4th and 2 he ran for a td

Not from me, the MAC can go **** itself. Hate all the schools, the locations and the fans. They have always been a bunch of elitist ******** and I say let them rot in their rust belt league.
I'd rather play our old SoCon foes instead of these B1G wanna be's.

Certain Marshall fans just have leftover toxicity from bad memories of almost-BCS-busting in the MAC...
That said, most MU fans I know are pretty cool. In fact both of my grandparents on one side graduated from Marshall and love the team, never heard them say a cross word about Miami of Ohio.
