The only way that happens is if we turn the ball over 6 times like we did in Athens in 2011. And I don't see Cato throwing 5 INTs again in a game. He had 3 against Purdue but 2 went off of WR hands.

Last year Marshall avged 6.4 yards on 1st down and in 2 games avged over 7.5 per 1st down.

No one has still tried to tackle how they are going to handle Marshall's 85-110 plays on O-.

Last year Marshall ran 85 plays against Ohio. Ohio ran 85 plays against Marshall. Tempo isn't the issue.

How many times has OU won the MAC? Just curious.

I'll be keeping a close eye on this game. After reading a little bit about the history of these two teams, I really hope Marshall STOMP Miami(Ohio).

Go Herds!!!

Y'all should probably win 62-0 or something comparable. I'll go ahead and cancel my plans to come up to Huntington for the ECU game... we don't stand a snowball's chance in hell.

Seriously? Why wouldn't we be confident we will have a great offense this season. We finished #7 in the country last year. We had the nation's leading WR, the nations top TD catching TE, the CUSA POY QB who was ranked top 10 in several categories and #1 in a few, along with the CUSA Freshman of the Year in RB Kevin Grooms and we have all of those players back. Why on earth would we not believe we are going to have one of the best offenses again?

As far as the defense goes no one said we would be the best defense. All we said was the issue is gone. Rippon was the reason we sucked as bad as we did. If gave up just 35 points per game we win close to 10 games. We only needed a couple more stops a game to be in the CUSA title game. Look no further than our game in Greenville. 4th and 10 with your QB rattled as he has just thrown 3 dirt balls and Rippon calls off the dogs drops everyone back to the sticks and lines the DBs off about 8 yards. That will be gone this year.

All we need is the defense to be in the 60s and our offense to stay in the top 25 and we will have a great year.

there's nothing greater than the annual building up of the Herd, where Marshall fans talk themselves up into a frenzy and start believing that THIS is the year it all comes together. They'll say things like "we had the #7 offense in the country last year!" and " our team runs a lot of plays!" and so on, but they forget all about the part where they finished 5-7. Of course this all leads to the inevitable freak out/melt down after any loss, which includes a mandatory calling for the head of everyone on the coaching staff, and sometimes some of the players too.

It's like watching salmon swim up stream to spawn under a double rainbow. it's beautiful.

Seven teams beat us. But seven teams didn't tackle our O- they tackled our D- which wasn't that hard when you have a DC playing your safeties and LBs 10 yards off the ball on a 3rd and 4. And no we aren't going to have a top 10 D- but there is no way we will be 101 either again this year. If we even get to 65-70 we win at least 4 games from this year to last year.

CUSA needs Marshall and USM to be strong programs esp. if the championship game is the only time most of us see the game anymore.

I had no idea we had run that many plays against Ohio. Because we hadn't implemented our O- scheme yet.

perimeterpost we didn't have the #7 O- in the country, we had the #6. But we also had the #101 D-. Of course we no longer have Chris Rippon as D-. Just to show you how bad he was he was Syacuse DC under Pasquali his last 3 years and probably the reason Paul Pasquali was fired.

It was the reason he was fired. Well at least a big one. Dude was terrible. He just had Rio and Vinny to mask the issues along with Omar. Once they were gone dude's butthole puckered and the coulnd't defend a pop warner offense. Rippon was never the guy that Doc wanted. He wanted Heater to come with him and he was going to until Temple hired that HC which is why we lost Cronin. Now they are both in G&W. Things are going to change.

Oh and I love how OHIO has such a big head all the sudden. You have beat us 2 of the last 4 times we played split down the middle. We owned you in the MAC and now you get two wins and all the sudden you are above us. Keep the smack coming johnny come lately.

Nick Harwell Transfers To Kansas

I love how ESPN fails to mention he was kicked out of Little Miami for beating his GF and has burglary and trespass charges on him too. The kid could be in jail before he ever plays a down at Kansas.

There is no loss from Dysert to Boucher. Boucher is 4-0 as a starter, won the MAC, won a bowl game, and had a scholarship offer from Ohio State but chose Miami. Im worried about our O-line and Defense, but not our QB. Boucher has already won more than Dysert.

And NIU was on the bad end of one of those Boucher games. That guy can play.

Hello McFly! I was implying that we don't need to poke fun at other schools when kids get into to trouble. We've had more than our fair share.

This is remarkably accurate. I really wish some in our fan base would just remain humble and bottle up their excitement for themselves until we prove it. If/when we do something significant (i.e. win a bowl game that's not associated with pizza or win CUSA East), I'm all for gloating and bragging because WE'VE ACTUALLY DONE SOMETHING TO EARN IT.

I've said it before and I'll repeat it - we have done nothing in 9 years to earn the right to talk smack to much of anyone, with the exception of the 'revenge' motivator (which, IMO, is and will forever be totally justified against Miami OH for 66-6).

Don't tell me how to talk or act, Ive kept my mouth shut since 2005. For the past 3 years Ive seen the recruiting that Marshall has put together. The #3 and the #1 NAQ class the past 3 years.

I watched everyone trash Bill Legg 2 years in a row and then not give him credit for last year. It was people like you that thought last years O- was Tony Petersen's doing. I like Tony and hope he does well at LA Tech but he was no more than QB coach at Marshall with the title of Co-OC.

I will continue think that this game is over at half time and Blake Frohnapfel will be in the game by mid way through the 3rd quarter.

And you're free to do/say whatever you want - I didn't tell anyone how to talk/act or make a demand. I said what I wished our fanbase would do; it's a nuance but a difference.

I'm not going to sit here and act like I know who/what is responsible for each piece of our game/program and I never have. Maybe we'll see a difference in our offense this year; maybe we won't. Time will tell.

Regarding our recruiting, it's looked mad awesome on paper, for sure. I've been just as pumped as anybody over the past couple years of recruiting. However, I've never gloated to anyone about it because what has it gotten us so far?

All I'm saying is that we haven't earned anything in the past 9 years. I personally refuse to talk trash to anyone about anything until we've earned the right to do so. I'm just sick of the past 9 years of "OH, YOU'RE GONNA GET SLAMMED, OHIO" and then woops we lose 44-7 or us constantly giving ucf **** every year then it's "NOPE ANOTHER LOSS FOR 6, 7, 8 IN A ROW". Disappointment after disappointment have made me incredibly humble, calm and admittedly pessimistic - how else would I be after the past 9 years?
