It always appeared (to me) to be the best situation for him. Sucks that it happened to be Tennessee, but what's he gonna do?

With Golden gone, it was pretty much a no brainer.

BS, it means more to the players, you obviously never played sports but I did hear you were a tremendous athletic supporter.

I played sports and I truly believe the hatred for UT is 100 times more for fans than some players, especially players that have very little knowledge of the past history with UT. My heavens, you really believe that Antonio gets it ? He doesn't and shouldn't be expected to. Yes, he was here 3 years but the players (especially those that aren't from around here and haven't followed Memphis until they were actually here) don't grasp the rivalry hatred that fans do. He's doing what he thinks is best.

I have always felt loyalty/deep support to the players who chose to come to Memphis. I want them to succeed and do well in everything. I know I "don't really KNOW them." Maybe I need to re think this.. seems to only go one way. Most of the fans loved AB. I know I did. But UT? I was deeply disappointed in Tarik because if you meet him, he is truly a very very nice young man and his behavior didn't match with who he seemed to be.
I guess its my own fault for investing emotionally in our players. Need to remember its just a place to play BB. There is no sense of loyalty to the fans or program except for maybe Penny/Elliott.

exactly....he grew up in Baltimore and knew very little about Memphis when he came here, much less who the schools were the fans truly hated.

This one is more difficult than the Black one. AB gave us everything he had on the floor. Plus he and Will are one of the main reasons that recruiting class was as good as it was, keeping us nationally relevant.
I wish for his personal success at UT but hope they lose every game. Aka I hope he averages 20 and 6 but they go 6-20.

Well Pastner did him wrong last season when he was cleared to play. I hated to see his time here end like it did. I think Will is just referring to the fact that he will get more PT now. Be interesting to see what he does with it.

I just don't get the "the players don't have to have any loyalty" argument, or they don't "owe the UofM" anything. Maybe that's why we're still in CUSA part deux.

Crawford and Nichols grew up here and both nearly went to UT. Antonio is supposed to develop the hatred of 20-50 year Tiger fans in three years?

It's not that they don't have to have any loyalty, it's that some of the players just don't. It is what it is. They only know what they know. Some come just to play ball and get an education. The only real rivalries that some know are their high school rivalries or their college teams they followed as they grew up. Not every player that comes to Memphis to play ball knows about our long standing rivalries. There have been many like this in the past 10 plus years.

I'm not really addressing "rivalries", moreso loyalties.
But, since you brought it up again, missJ it would only take ONE game against each other for ANYONE involved in it, to realize the degree of passion there is between UofM and utK. So, defending their decisions with "they didn't know" is a waste of time. Sorry.
