Pitt will celebrate its official entrance into the Atlantic Coast Conference on July 1 with a night full of entertainment from 8-9:30 p.m. at Stage AE on the North Shore of Pittsburgh, including an appearance from former Pitt great Larry Fitzgerald.

PITTSBURGH - Pitt will celebrate its official entrance into the Atlantic Coast Conference on July 1 with a night full of entertainment from 8-9:30 p.m. at Stage AE on the North Shore of Pittsburgh, including an appearance from former Pitt great Larry Fitzgerald.

All fans are welcome to the party which will feature live entertainment from a national recording artist to be named shortly, and will commence with a Zambelli fireworks celebration over the city of Pittsburgh. A cash bar and food will be available with drink specials running throughout the night and Sportsradio 93.7 The Fan, Y108 and 100.7 Star broadcasting live.

The event, sponsored by McDonalds and Shearer's, will kickoff Pitt's entrance into the ACC and start a week of Pitt activities. Included in the fanfare will be a Pitt tailgate at Stage AE on July 2 for the Pirates contest vs. the Philadelphia Phillies. The tailgate will begin at 5 p.m. and will also have drink specials and food available for purchase.

All fans are encouraged to celebrate with us as we make this milestone move to our new conference home. Parking for the July 1 event will be available in the Gold lots for $5.

I hope UofL does something like this next year. I expect they will. Like seeing the Cardinal bird logo with the rest of the ACC schools.

I'll miss the B'EAST of the 90's, but I think that the ACC is on the rise, and when it does, it will feel like old times. 04-cheers

I do to. Never thought I would ever see our logo next to such a collection of outstanding institutions. Our entrance into The ACC is over a year away and I already feel a combination of appreciation, reverence and expectations from and for our new home. The ACC will never regret ignoring some of the negativity associated with our previous mission as a university to collectively see the vision we have for our future. Not only the future of our university but the future of our city and our commonwealth.

I think that Louisville is a great addition to the ACC. Cards fans have nothing to be apologetic about.

In my opinion, the ACC will be very happy it extended an invitation to Louisville.

RE: Pitt's throwing a party July 1st for the ACC move.
So when is Notre Dame's half a party? There is a "celebration" on july 1st in NYC to recognize our new members, I think it is just for the big wigs in the ACC. There is supposed to be significant rebranding going on around that time, including new things in NYC to spread the ACC brand. I assume one will be the reveal of the new ACC Map logo, perhaps a couple of bowl announcements, even though we know, its not "official" yet.

I don't think you will see any party or celebration.

There will likely be a press release with quotes from Jack Swarbrick and the ND coaches.

That will probably be it.

ND is just not "conference oriented".

P.S. Why would it be "half a party"????

24 of ND's 26 sports are joining the ACC completely and football will have a 5 game scheduling alliance with the ACC.

That is more than "half" membership.

That is more than "half" membership.

80% X 5/8 + 20% = 50% + 20% = 70%

Thus, based on 80% football / 20% basketball split, Notre Dame is actually a 70% member (not a "half" member)... FWIW
