RE: Arena
I haven't heard anything about it but the downtown revitalization plans from a few years ago show the arena where the Abraham Chavez Theater now sits.

With the baseball stadium next door, it could be a possibility.

RE: Arena
If I recall correctly, this was one of the items that was proposed under the VOTER-APPROVED quality of life bonds.

Mista had a good handle on this..... Mista?

RE: Arena
A good place to build it would be across from san jacinto plaza and chase bank, between Fanklin and Main... Most of that area is a parking lot, and it is already right next to a parking garage

RE: Arena
It's happening. The last I read they were going to wait until 2014 to see where City Hall ended up and some of the other relocations. City Council already voted to safeguard the Abraham Chavez theater. So it wont be there.

RE: Arena
From what I recall of the Downtown revitalization plan, the area where the ballpark now sits, was part of the "Entertainment District". A new arena was going to go where the Abraham Chavez theater now sits.

If they have voted save the Abraham Chavez theater then that brings up to very important questions.

1. Is there a another place within the Entertainment District where the arena can go?

2. Or has the downtown revitalization map been scrapped?

Here is a quote from the El Paso Times from September of last year.

City officials said the repairs and upgrades to the Chavez theater were necessary to make sure it is safe and functional for several years to come -- even if it's eventually demolished to make way for the new arena.

wherever it goes, it should bring a lot of progress to the city... The article you linked says it could possibly go where the chavez theater is at, it does not even say if the voters approved the project... I'm asking if anybody has heard anything ELSE about the arena, I'm not asking for irrelevant info from over a month before the voters of the City of El Paso approved the project.

RE: Arena
How am I wrong?

I never said that this was going to happen.

I simply said that I had heard that it might happen and I posted an article to confirm that.

I did it because I know you guys are going to claim I made it up.

I never said it was going to happen one way or another however.

I wasn't wrong about anything.

While I did not say you were wrong, you were once again citing outdated and incorrect info. It was easiest enough to get you there though. Once you hear a random quote or rumor, that remotely supports your view, you turn a blind eye to everything else. I just needed to give you enough slack on your leash before hanging you from it. I was right. Again.

I never disputed your information or said that you were wrong. Quit being so dramatic.

I do have a flair for the dramatic, don't I? Calling people homers and being reduced to reply with "whatever." Oh wait, that's not me, that's you...

Conservative? Far from it. Actually, I consider myself a progressive but this town has everything bass ackwards.

Only in El Paso will self proclaimed democrats shamelessly delve in corprate welfare.
