NIU looks like a penitentiary.

Not a huge fan of using PayScale data - I have doubts that the numbers that they publish are accurate and the numbers basically end up with the top listing of engineering majors working in major cities.

Oh - it also filters out alumni who later pursued a graduate degree later in life as well.

which is huge because people that attend a top tier school for undergrad are also more likely to go to graduate school for a high paying job (MBA, law, med, etc.)

I'm not a big fan of the terms "overrated" and "underrated." It's usually super-confusing what their baseline comparison is.

Although at least they make it clear in this list.

I know what Payscale claims are median salaries in Arkansas you would be damn lucky to get.

The America East looks underrated with a look at that list. UMBC is #7, UMASS-Lowell is #1, and NJIT at #3 continues to swirl around as an expansion candidate.
