Is it just me, or does Otto look sad in this picture?

How can he be sad? He's got a permanent smile.

Looks like a sentimental smile here, though. May be welling up a tear.

Well it's great to finally have this move made and I greatly anticipate watching Pitt participate in the ACC. I wish I felt like we would be adding more value from an athletic standpoint but at the current time I just don't see it. I don't think either of our major programs are in a position to make a splash this season. Hopefully you all will be patient with us as we hope to recapture past form.

Today's the day for celebration, though. I know that I speak for a lot of Pitt fans when I say I'm very excited about our entrance to the ACC!

RE: Welcome Notre Dame, Pittsburgh and Syracuse!
I'm happy for Notre Dame, Pitt, and Syracuse but I'm disappointed to see Louisville and to a lesser extent Rutgers stuck in this bush league mid major conference for another year. It sucks having to be grouped with CUSA teams again but what can you do. Memphis, Houston, Temple, UConn, and UCF are going to drag down our SoS and even if/when we go 12-0 it's going to be near impossible to get into the title game thanks to them, and it sucks getting garbage TV slots thanks to that massive assclown Aresco. Despite being the only legitimate team in this crap conference and being the only team casual fans will watch we get stuck with two Thursday and two Friday night games. Just one more year of this ******* bull**** and it's all over. I hope Charlie runs up the score on every one of those hapless teams.

Too bad we couldn't get a few ACC teams on the schedule to hold us over until 2014.

I don't think Aresco could have done anything to better the former Big East. He inherited a mess.

Buzz ... preventing scurvy before hopping aboard like a smart merchant marine.

Scurvy? It looks more like he is pollinating!

I agree that Duke, UVa and Wake should do away with the cartoon heads and just have human mascots.

Is Miami practicing his "cuff me" pose?

RE: Welcome Notre Dame, Pittsburgh and Syracuse!
It's ACC day in Pittsburgh.

The City of Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh City Council have declared that Monday, July 1 is to be named “University of Pittsburgh Atlantic Coast Conference Day.”

The City of Pittsburgh proclamation states: “Whereas on July 1, 2013, the University of Pittsburgh will officially become a new world-class member institution of the Atlantic Coast Conference. This move to the ACC not only positions the University’s athletic teams for greater success, but presents the opportunity to showcase both the University and the City of Pittsburgh on the national stage.”

Additionally, the Pittsburgh City Council proclamation states: “Be it further resolved, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare July 1, 2013 to be ‘University of Pittsburgh Atlantic Coast Conference Day’ in the City of Pittsburgh.”

Pitt officially joins the ACC today and will mark the induction with a celebration at Stage AE on July 1 beginning at 8 p.m. Special guests will include former Pitt star Larry Fitzgerald and national recording artist Love and Theft. Fireworks at 9:30 conclude the celebration. All fans are encouraged to attend this free event.

Wake and Virginia could potentially have bad ass mascots if they lost the cartoon heads. Duke - I just don't know what you do with that. It's close to human looking but I don't even think it would look good as a human.

Even the Clemson and FSU mascots look like they don't want to be there. They're in the very back of every picture. I had to look twice to even see 'em.

I never heard of Cimarron growing up and it wasn't around while I was in school. Last year they re-introduced it for events like this and for the kids. Apparently it was some type of mascot in the past but I don't know when. In years' past, in all of the ACC mascot commercials, FSU's "mascot" would literally be a cheerleader since Chief Osceola and Renegade are symbols of the Seminole people and university and not your typical cartoonish mascots.

From Wikipedia:
The word Seminole is a corruption of cimarrón, a Spanish term for "runaway" or "wild one."

Those are probably the premiere timeslots for the AAC. It sucks for y'all but I'll be glad to get to see 4 Louisville games this year. Probably wouldn't if they were on Saturday.

I has also heard something about FSU's agreement with the Seminole Nation restricts the use of Chief Osceola. Basically he can only appear at home games.
