Army-Navy transcends the sport and spans the entire world. Vets who don't care about football tune in for the Army-Navy game. I've heard from multiple vets that if their team goes 1-11 but that one win was against army/navy then it was a successful season.

RE: Best rivalry in college football
Ohio State vs. Michigan's place on the schedule (as the season ending game) was so important that the fan outcry to the not even officially announced plan to move up the game (not till October as earlier reports said, but at least up in November) was so great that the Big Ten a) kept the game where it was, b) accepted 2 crossover games to end the season despite risk of an immediate rematch, c) devoted much of the divisional announcement special to highlighting the game and trying to negate much of the negative critism they'd recieved from both fanbases, d) was probably one big reason they went to east-west with them together this time.

Yikes, that could be said about a ton of them:

PSU-Pitt
Pitt-WVU
BYU-Utah
Kansas-Missouri
Colorado-Nebraska
Texas-A&M
WVU-VT
UMD-UVA
UA-UT

Best ones going now are Army-Navy and Texas-OU, although UGA-UF is pretty fun when both programs are good.

Kudos to TexanMark for mentioning Army/Navy. Great rivalry for many reasons. On top of everything else it also once was the backdrop for a great episode of M*A*S*H. 04-cheers

I really like OU/Texas, but I voted for OSU/Michigan. I miss the old OU/Nebraska rivalry, which gave OU two big rivalry games rather than one. While there's a rivalry between Michigan/Michigan State, it's just not the same as OSU/Michigan, so that wins out.

Gotta agree with 10thMountain on his 3 picks with the following order:

(1) Michigan-Ohio State
(2) Army-Navy
(3) Alabama-Auburn

Anyone who has been to the game in Dallas understands that the RRSO is in the top three of all time rivalries.

It is pretty amazing, and the state fair setting does add something to it as well.

I was pelted with corney dogs by a group of rowdy Texas fans after we beat them 65-13

In 2016 Penn State-Pitt resume their rivalry, that could be pretty intense.

You think Nebraska will forge a rivalry with anyone in the Big someday?

Yeah, it was definitely one of the top rivalries in the country when it was played. Can't wait to see it start up again.

Alabama-Auburn seems to be really crazy but I don't live anywhere near there so I don't see the intensity first hand. USC/Notre Dame and Army/Navy are probably the most "national" rivalry games where people from all over the country tune in. Michigan/Ohio State is obviously huge as well. I think there are probably about 15 rivalries that are all equal and it just depends on how good the teams are on a given year.

I think they're trying to get Nebraska-Iowa off the ground. IMO, Nebraska should try to get Oklahoma back on the schedule as a yearly game.

Best Historical Rivalries (RIP):
Nebraska/Oklahoma
Notre Dame/Michigan (as soon as the current deal ends)

Best Current Rivalries:
Notre Dame/Southern Cal
Oregon v. Southern Cal or Stanford
Nebraska/Wisconsin -- will be interesting to see if it holds in the post-Bilemma era
LSU/Alabama
South Carolina/Georgia
Ohio State/Michigan
FSU/Clemson
Harvard/Yale

Best In-State Rivalries (in order of 'my' preference)
Alabama/Auburn
Clemson/South Carolina
Oklahoma/Oklahoma State
Miami(OH)/Ohio

Army/Navy is in its own class.
