CSNbbs 101 for the ESPN Forums Refugees
Seeing a lot of ESPN refugees here ... figure this will be useful for them:

Respect the power of Jim Donnan ... he knows kung fu.

Read up on why carrots, cogs, and Marshall swimmers are culturally important here: http://csnbbs.com/showthread.php?tid=567399

The site has MANY active conference and team boards. Use "Active Board Finder" in the conferences menu to browse them. If you want to see what is really jumping right now ... check the Vitality page (Features in the Nav): http://vitality.csnbbs.com/

The AUP is like the US Constitution for this site ... a set of minimal site-wide rules. We try to keep things laid back. Keeping with the federalism model ... conference and team boards may operate more loose or tightly based one what they're used to. It is to be expected that if you're visiting other folks boards your behavior will be more heavily monitored than if you are posting on your own.

Follow us on social media .. links are in the top left under "Collegiate Sports Nation".

Q: Speaking of that menu ... what is that pressbox and other stuff?
A: We're going to have our own news/op-ed/stats websites in the future. Stay tuned!

Q: Where does the buck stop?
A: Here.

Q: What's the good word?
A: To hell with Georgia. Every day. Every way.

Q: How to I change my avatar and stuff? Where is the UserCP?
A: Click your name top right.

Q: I don't like these ads. YOU SUCK!
A: That is not a question. Also, you can change posts per page to be up to 50 in your UserCP. Barring that, you can pay a dirt cheap amount of dough (less than $1.50/mo) to remove all the ads. See premium under your name top right.

Q: Why have all these stupid ads anyway?
A: The site is free. It pays the bills. And not just hosting and hardware ... I'm trying to make this what I do for a living. How many message boards do you know with a dedicated support person? Answer: 1 ... this one.

Q: I have heard hushed whispers that there is a board here with hot redheads on it.
A: Guess you'll have to look around some when your post count reaches 100. It might exist. It might not. I could tell you ... but then I'd have to kill you. And the first rule of fight club is you don't talk about fight club. I've said too much already ... moving on.

Q: Are there any general/OT type boards?
A: The Lounge (see up top in nav). There is an active pro sports and general and political board there. The Spin Room on the lounge is moderated wild west style. You have been warned.

Q: What are these everywhere tags that GTS talks about?
A: http://csnbbs.com/showthread.php?tid=315460

Q: What the hell is a skunkworks?
A: http://csnbbs.com/misc.php?page=skunkworks ... it comes with some nice perks.

Maybe you can explain what the reputation points thing is all about. I have been posting here for several years (the earlier versions would not recognize my handle, so I would have to register under 2nd and 3rd names) and I still don't know what it is used for or why it matters? I presume it only matters if you think it does.

It's a decent way to gauge, offhand, the perceived value of a poster to other posters. Yes, it can be abused. You'll see some Memphis posters with blatantly hyperinflated reputations. But it's usually a decent indicator, particularly if somebody has negative rep.

Basically, don't say anything (that is perceived) negative regarding your soon-to-be conference mate, East Carolina, and your rep number will be fine.

Otherwise, the ECU CSNbbs Hit Squad will find you and they will make sure your rep never gets above 150.
