Great talker and fun guy and funny guy. Really sharp and energetic. And he treated the job like it was one of the Top 10 programs of All-Time, which it is. There's no next step up for Cronin and I don't think he has any interest in the NBA. GREAT situation with better stability then even Huggs gave us!

Obviously he is behind the eight ball for the next 2 years. But if he can be successful from that point on, he is here till he decides to hang it up. You can tell he is stoked to be back in his hometown withhis family and friends. You can't put a price tag on that.

I think his method of speaking probably is great for recruits, not so great from a public speaking standpoint.
I will give the nod on one thing...great to hear someone talk positively about the program...between Nancy insulting our degrees and even Bob saying how hard it was to recruit here...it has worn thin

I agree, he is a horrible public speaker but obviously a great personal speaker. He reminded me a lot of Huggs when he first came to Cincinnati. I agree, the talk of how tough it was to recruit here, whether true or not, devalued the program a lot. I'd rather here the coach talk about how valuable and successful this program is in that respect.

I'm sure Mick is nervous as H*LL,and probably couldn't wait to get this part over with. How great is it to have a guy whose dream job is to coach UC basketball.

I just loved his demeaner in the whole press conference. You just got the feeling that he was being totally honest when he tought this was his dream job and the best place to coach college basketball. I really think in some ways we may be better off with Mick as he will bring in top notch talent that we have missed since he left. He won at Murray State so I believe the two will make us a force once again. I loved his "we will not grab and stab" on recruiting. He will bring in people that can compete in the Big East. I think Mick gave us the best chance to rebound without having a full shelf of players next year.

congrats to Mick. He will have a couple of rough years, but after that we will see. Coach K's first five years were losers at Puke. GO CATS

I'm not so sure his years are going to be all that rough. Mike Decoursey and Terry Nelson seem to think he can get some impact JUCO players RIGHT NOW. That there is some talent available right now.

Having Devon Downey available as a proven sophomore is a heckuva head start. It's the key position on the floor, and you've got a developing national-level star to work with.
I expect Mick to sign several kids who can help us this spring, and I don't expect the results next year will be nearly as poor as some of us feared during this winter of uncertainty.

I don't either. With the right schedule, and if Mick can get Williamson from Cincy St. and snag a few of the upper level unsigned guys, I think we could possibly even make the NCAA's next year. Hell, they showed us this year SOS doesn't matter. Lets pull a GW and schedule cupcakes for OOC. ;-)

They'd just change up again and hold us out on the basis of weak SOS. Littlepage is not the chairman next year....it is the guy from Princeton. But Littlepaige is still on the committee.
