Probably more relief we will be gone. It will give them a chance to do something they haven't done in 8 years in CUSA. Win the East. We won a share of it just last year...

...LOL. You guys haven't really done sh!t. Totally overrated IMO. Southern Miss has always been the cream of this conference until last year. You know that and I know that.

I didn't even bother to waste my time to add up Marshall's performance. Everyone knows how lame of an addition you were to CUSA 2.0. You guys have never done jack before without getting on probation. Certainly not the program we were sold when we added you.

Here is the facts......

The 8 years of CUSA 2.0

In conference....

ECU
46-20
2 championships

USM
37-29
1 championship

ECU also has delivered higher profile OOC wins and beat more BCS competition.

ECU
10-4 Virginia Tech #14
9-4 West Virginia #23
9-4 NC State #25
10-3 Boise State (ranked at the time)
5-7 Virginia
4-8 North Carolina
3-9 NC State

USM
8-5 Virginia
3-9 Virginia
3-9 Kansas
3-9 NC State

I don't know what you are smoking but we were better in CUSA 2.0 by far.

45 days until the paper championship ends and the real games begin.

90 days before the Marshall fans start complaining about how bad their coaching staff is and how much their players suck.

105 days before the Marshall fans want Doc Holiday gone.

Same song every year in every sport.

Ah, piss off. You don't have the first damn clue what your talking about. I tried to explain to you and others in countless threads. But if your too stupid to figure out Skip left us almost nothing and Ruff has had to rebuild talent and depth, there's no point in me even trying.

What he said.

Plus, last year's game was not that close. Granted, you sucked gigantic donkey nuts last year and many of your fans possibly contemplated murder, suicide or both... but still, you got your tails beat in the second half.

The days of USM dominating ECU are over, thankfully and by the Grace of God. It's about time.

ECU will win the East this year.

I'm not even going to guarantee that, but when you return 19 starters from a team that was the co East champs last year, and the only team that beat you and that was the other co champ has moved on we absolutely deserve the respect of being the preseason favorites. Especially over some 4-4 trash. I don't care what they think they have returning. They went 4-4.

And to any ECU poster talking about Skip leaving the cupboard bare, well, Ruff beat 2 top 25 teams with that empty cupboard and hasn't been able to beat a team with a winning record since. Said it before, when Skip left, he took your teams mental toughness and preparation with him. Your just lucky you had the easy cross over schedule last year or you would have been home for the holidays.

Ah, from the 2009 team to the 2010 team, 34 lettermen lost, 37 total players, the most in FBS. What was left was two good RB's, a bunch of WR's and the key part, 3 Sr O-linemen. Defense had two corners, that's it. We started out with 4 workable, but very green D-linemen, mid way through 2010 we had lost to injury 3 of those 4. And we had zero depth behind them.

Now, what part of that do you NOT get??????????

I can't believe we are even having this discussion with a .500 CUSA team with a losing overall record that lost to a 3 win UAB team. I don't think there as been a team that has done less that has had this much hype in CUSA. Just shows you how big a hit this conference has taken they even get discussed. The two preseason favoirtes are off to the AAC too.

If the name UAB comes out of your mouth one more time in a disrespectful manner I will ask the mods to ban you SJ.

I don't even see what I said that was disrespectful or out of line but if you don't like it win more than 3 games. A 3 win team is a crappy team. Period. Teams that want to be considered good don't lose to 3-9 teams like Marshall did last year.
[/quot

ECU beat UAB one score at UAB.....so if UAB is that pitiful, what does that mean about the Pirates?

So did Louisville. Actually ECU won by a comfortable margin compared to Louisville.

And your point? 01-wingedeagle A win is a win and a loss is a loss...Does not matter if you win by 1 or 30 and it does not matter if you lose by 1 or 30....All that matters is whether you put a notch in the win or loss column.

You know SJ, you're right. What chance does some crap team that went 4-4 in conference last year have to compete the next year?

Help me out with something though. What was ECU's conference record in 2011? You know, the year before they went 7-1 in conference.

Oh, never mind I found it. You were 4-4 in conference in 2011. Based on that I guess there was no way you were going to be any good in 2012. Sorry, but you are just not bright. When we beat you the last game of your CUSA existence I hope you at least have the nads to shown up and take it like a man.

I think some of you guys have some reading comprehension issues. I really do. I haven't mentioned Marshall one time as having been better than anybody else since entering CUSA yet you want to make comparisons of ECU vs Marshall.

Go back and read it again....My statement was about Southern Miss. When you can have as many consecutive winning seasons as Southern Miss has had since being in CUSA, it solidifies my point that they have been the cream of this conference in years past. Anybody else believing otherwise is simply in denial.

He wont show up here for that game. He knows the odds of ECU coming here and beating us this year at home is not good. That's why some ECU fans are getting all "defensive" in their comments.

Times are changing.....since Holiday took over this team he's been laying the foundation for a great run. I said last year that we were still one year away. Here we are.....the time is now. Don't be surprised if this team wins 9-10 games this year.

No doubt USM and Louisville were the tops in the original CUSA but since the league went to 12 teams with CUSA 2.0 they have not performed as well. They were still in the top 3rd of the league and one of the better teams but they were by no means a dominant program or the cream of CUSA...Like I said in an earlier post, CUSA version 2.0 did not have one dominant program that you could call the cream of the conference...Houston, ECU, Tulsa, UCF, and USM were all pretty close for the most part during this time frame.

I think you may be the one with reading comprehension issues...Go back and read your post. Sure you had a comment about USM but the main focus of your post was to try and make yourself feel better by taking a nonsensical shot at ECU.

Also if you call out the performance of a team you should expect that people are going to call out the performance of you own team....So just give it up...Your post was just nonsense and you were called out on it.

ECU fans being defensive in their comments????? Whatever, some Marshall fans are the ones being total tools. Just because someone dared to not pick their team to win the league they have to come out in full force with attacks on ECU. I understand why some of them have a hard on about the up coming season and I also understand why they have started to hate ECU but please give it a break.

This is pretty strange and unusual times for me. Usually I would be all up in the mix arguing why my Eagles would win CUSA. But coming off a 0-12 season, I really have zero ground to stand on. First time in 18 years I don't feel like we should be in this conversation. Disappointing. But hey, I surely am looking forward to winning 1 game!!!!
