Agreed. Without the Peach, it was kind of the most natural replacement.

Wasn't this to be expected? Especially with the greatly diminished profile of the Big East (now AAC) and the availability of an SEC tie.

I think the AAC wrote this one off some time ago.

Oh, yeah. There's no doubt about it, that bowl game is going to draw very well going forward. Charlotte is a lovely town and the stadium is within an easy walk of a lot of downtown bars. I really like that stadium and its location.

And now you add SEC teams to help fill the joint, the sky is the limit for the Belk Bowl, IMHO. This is a very good news for everyone involved, except the American. However, as someone else said earlier, they knew this was coming and wrote off this game a long time ago.



This is a more than suitable replacement for the Peach Bowl. The teams won't be quite as good but it is open air, which I prefer, and it is in Charlotte, which I strongly prefer over Atlanta.

Yeah this was a game that a while back I desperately hoped the AAC could keep, and hoped with ECU's proven drawing power at that stadium might be possible, but it was long ago written off. Would have been a fun game for ECU fans but hopefully we can still play the occasional neutral site game at BOA Stadium.

This is absolutely nothing new and the likelihood of this happening has been mentioned by the Charlotte Observer before... the American wrote this off long ago.
