Does anybody have a reliable link to a more detailed explanation of the NCAA governing structure?

After hearing this" 6 months" talk now from several league commissioners, I'm starting to believe this might have grown Legs. I think it would involve more than the p5 group though for other sports. I feel the Big East, American and MWC will be included in the mix before it's all said and done. Might not be a full partnership but involved just the same.

I get the feeling they are most interested in kicking the bottom half of D1 out, not the bottom half of FBS.

Yeah, me too. I don't know if it's sabre rattling to get the smaller schools to pass rule changes that the big schools want, demand for a higher division to leave the bottom half of FBS behind, a break away for football or an all our break away. Clearly it will be a big source of discussion on these message boards.

I'm not so sure. Seems to me they want to kick out the bottom 40 or so schools out of FBS. Since they're the ones who stand to make 1.25 million or so a year form the new CFP but will never contribute. But they don't want to invite government intervention or a re-examining of the tax exempt status. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I'm hoping for basically the status quo. Give the weighted voting rights to the P5 so they can pass whatever they want and keep the rest the same.

There is more money to be made by getting rid of the bottom 10 conferences in basketball than there is to be made from getting rid of the football conferences. You need other teams to play. We are probably at the point where if a split of D1 occurs, nobody should play FCS schools. Let the last few of them upgrade if they want then start playing only FBS.
