WVU won more games than you guys did last year but we are "fighting for our lives"? So what does that say about the Uconn football program?

The WVU bashing on this board is hilarious considering we have a winning record against almost every team's fans that posts on this board. Pitt, Cuse and VT I can understand but f'n ECU, UL,Uconn and Marshall? Gimme a f'n break.

Last game played:

(8) WV 3
(NR) ECU 24

You still mad bro? :D

That wasn't the last game played idiot.

35-20

You still dumb bro?

The wording of the OP is might be strong, but the linked article seems like a good piece to discuss.

WVU and ECU have been good partners since I was in school. It seems strange that your coach, who is supposedly friends with our coach, would call us out like that. It's quite curious.

Both sides need to chill out. Wvu fans, if you're so superior why even let it bother you... YOUR teams coach made some ignorant comments and he's got people fired up. So what some internet tough guys want to talk.... let it slide like water off of a ducks back. Why pick on the "little" guy just because he's mad? Btw. Its 50k in CUSA. Thanks. The fact that its cusa makes it that much more impressive. It would easily be 65k with a B12 schedule.

If I understand both schools correctly, both WVU and ECU are peer institutions when it comes to academics. So why does the WVU coach dislike ECU so much? Both institutions are much more similar than different.

RE: Holgorsen is an ass.
I think it would have shown a lot if Holgorsen has come back and clarified his comments a day or two later. He could have said something to the effect of, "I was a little caught up in my frustrations about some of the NCAA rules and ended up coming across as speaking disparagingly about some other institutions. I regret this. I have the utmost respect for East Carolina and Marshall and in fact coach McNeill and I go back years." That would pretty much close the book on the whole matter.

Rutgers and Wake Forest voted against the stipend too, but Holgersen didn't mention either of those schools.

The writer didn't miss the point. The UNC, Duke and NC State crowds just want it to be known that they see WVU the same way that they see ECU. They even mentioned the fact that WVU and ECU used to be in the same conference together.
The writer is saying that Holgorson thinks ECU doesn't belong on the same field because they can't compete. I think Holgorson was saying they don't belong on the same field if they limit the ability of big programs to do the things they want to do. Holgorson is complaining about the smaller schools acting as a anchor pulling down the big schools due to there own limitations.

I don't understand the bolded part of your comment. It has no mention in the article.

This article is an ACC insider piece by a North Carolina paper. That WRAL article earlier in the week had the same tone. They want WVU to know that they are lesser than them, which is why you remind them what conference they used to be in.

You do realize your coach is George O'Leary right...

BTW UCF is 0-2 against WVU. 45-20 and 36-18.

I certainly would take GOL's resume issue over a drunk who has verbal diarhea. My issues with Holgreson go back to his big mouth at OSU. A condition which still persists. Probably why he fits in at WVU.

And I love how UCF's record against WVU is supposed to make you right about the subject of this thread? Typical undeserved arrogance.

Hilarious. What has he added to his resume this week? Astronaut? President of Kenya?

No, he has a college degree, so he automatically qualifies as governor of West Virginia. Keep em coming.

You know that saying, "Be nice to people on your way up because you'll see them again on your way down"? If Holgorsen finishes in the bottom half of the Big 12 a couple more times, his next stop will be at one of those CUSA or AAC programs he just slammed.

If he falls on his face he isn't likely to get an AAC gig unless it is a coordinator position.

That's going too far. Guys who are well-thought of get second chances. Even if Holgorsen finishes 7th in the Big 12 twice and gets canned, he would still be preferable to at least a few of the AAC coaches (and several of those schools have hired second-chance guys before).

Granted, an offensive coordinator position at a wealthy Big 5 school might pay more, but if he wanted another shot at a head coaching job, he'd get one.

Ecu did it for legal reasons. Just because everybody wants to do something doesn't mean its right.

Nothing but class from a Pitt fan.
One of the few good things I have seen from this whole realignment mess is WVU fans not having to go to the stadium the Steelers are nice enough to let you borrow to see our team play.

UConn is a peer academic institution with Syracuse & Pitt, and there's not much love there.

But at least no one from Syracuse or Pitt have made a stupid comment (like what Holgorsen said) about UConn.

The advantages ( public funding ) WVU has received are much more than what ECU has been fortunate enough to get. Being one of only 2 schools playing football in their state makes for a pretty small pond... Not too hard to be the biggest fish there. The argument of superiority just isn't credible to me coming from such a privileged situation especially considering we were in the same conference around 1960.

RE: Holgorsen is an ass.
I think alot of WVU fans are worried about this football season. With all the big guns now gone, the coach will have to fend for himself so to speak. Many feel that WVU could end up winning one or two Big 12 games and watch bowl season from home. Not to mention Bob Huggins and his basketball team are also looking very weak for the upcoming season. It's turning out that no one wants to play for a coach that is screaming at his players on a daily basis. At the end of next year, it will be time to ask WVU fans, "how's that move to the Big 12 treating ya"? Tack on the unbelievable mileage each team at WVU must travel west and it's quickly making the whole scene a disaster. Only time will tell. After this year, Holgrosen may be gone.

Wait. What? The main attack Hologerson critics make is that he is too relaxed not screaming all the time. It may be a down year but it has nothing to do with Holgerson. Bill Stewart's recruiting after Doc Holiday went down to Marshall was atrocious. Why do you think WVUs D was filled with redshirt freshman and JCs last year? Now if the 2014 team is weak then there may be a problem but he is going to get till then. Outsiders saw smith, Austin and bailey and thought that the program was loaded. In reality it had a very weak on the o-line and obviously on defense. The Stewart regime just flat out missed on a lot of kids. Its fine to be crictical but try to have some idea of what your talking about first
