The 1st Super Bowl
As we start the NFL season in 2013 tomorrow, I thought of this wonderful article on the 1st Super Bowl published by Sports Illustrated in 2012. The article details the first Super Bowl between Canton and Massillon, both pro teams of Ohio played in 1906. It also adds insight as to why the NFL Hall of Fame is in Canton, Ohio. I was born and raised in Massillon. I suppose that is part of the reason I had interest in such an article. It's really the first time that players were paid at this level, teams competed for players and a game between these paid players was actually held. The state of Ohio is also the home of John Heisman, founder of the Heisman Trophy. The state has 11 of 71 Heisman winners from Ohio. Ohio also ranks 5th with total NFL players from the state at 81 behind, California, Texas, Florida, Georgia.

I thought the season started on Thursday...Maybe it doesn't count though because it didn't start in Ohio?

hey, your right. I'm not 14. I'm used to the games starting on Sundays, not all of these TV games in the middle of the week. I guess you all kind of missed the point however.
