Oh heck no! If Boomer Sooner wants to waste away and fade into memory like Big Red struggling with Wyoming then let them go to the Big 10. But I have to still believe that somewhere in Oklahoma there are still some red blooded males that want to play in the show. Oklahoma in the SEC maxes out their content dollars while filling their stands and getting to travel well to most West Division sites. Oklahoma in the Big 10 becomes something that their fans won't endure. I'm sure the SEC would love to have the Sooners. The question is, "What will Boren and crew do?" The PAC and Big 10 are just too far for the Oklahoma fan base and the football passion out West is tepid and in the Big 10 the passion lingers but the prime is gone.

Being accused and it happening are two different things. Trust me I have personally saw recruits come into a cafe with coincidentally the hottest girls on campus and go (hang out) with those girls afterwards. It happens everywhere.

They would do financially better in the Big 10, no doubt. But, truly He1nous Nebraska is missing those Texas recruits they once pulled. In fact Nebraska is missing those half dozen recruits they once pulled from the deep South. Big Red is an afterthought in the Big 10. Boomer Sooner would be too and for many of the same reasons. Oklahoma and Texas face a tougher situation than everyone lets on. Do you move to the PAC or Big 10 and alienate your fan base, increase your travel, and hope to remain viable while being a significant outlier, or do you join the SEC and risk losing seasons? This question makes allies out of the academicians who want the Big 10 and football coaches who want an easier path to a job saving bowl game at the end of an average year. Either way they lose. That's why they cling to odd consortium that has become the Big 12. But as you noted both former powers have already slipped quite a bit by lingering in the past too long.

Remember, Arkansas, A&M, Missouri, and L.S.U. (an ancient rival) are already in the SEC. So forming a division that would be palatable wouldn't take that much. 18 would do it nicely. Three six team divisions geographically organized would make for a helluva an SEC.

Well, I agree with the premise but if the Big 12 ceases to exist then the situation is completely changed. If Texas and two other Texas schools go to the ACC. IF Tech goes to the PAC and we have A&M in the SEC already, then the situation is entirely changed as to the mentality of Texas recruits. There will no longer be a Texas centric conference for them to focus on first.

That is why I don't think the issue is as big of a deal as folks would have it made out to be and no...Nebraska's situation up in Lincoln is not the same as Oklahoma's would be down in Norman, sorry.

I'm not trying to argue with your point ND, but that which is disgusting you is truly more omnipresent and pervasive than just within our academic institutions. And, if we are to do anything about it then it must start with ourselves and our dedication to then change our government locally, then at the state level, and then at the federal level. I pick government first because the law will be required to reign in corporate life. Then maybe idealism will return and with it an urging for the deepest reform within all institutions of faith. We have many people of faith in the world, they just don't have an environment presently in which to elevate the conversation because so many within their denominational structures are more concerned with their retirement portfolios and salaries than they are with what is right and none of them want to rock their economic boats. When government and institutions of faith reflect higher standards then educators will embrace the environment and ethics will return to education. Or, at least I hope so. Otherwise it is going to get progressively uglier and at rates greater than the public can envision.
