Big Difference
Is there really anybody that would even be a A- minus on the NCAA game. Bama D isn't that good. With so many FCS schools winning or being within a TD. Akron almost winning. Seems like ALL OF CUSA SUCKS. What gives this year. Nobody is THAT GOOD. Nobody will be undefeated maybe nobody with 1 loss.

RE: Big Difference
Perhaps Bama's showing shows just how good Johnny really is.

I haven't seen Bama get run up like that since Saban has been there.

And yes, pretty much everyone is capable of sucking this year except from probably a handful of elite teams.

RE: Big Difference
I give Rice props. I liked their offensive scheme tonight with the 2 qb sets...especially the read option plays. They could be the best team in the league.

RE: Big Difference
I addressed this with my MT peeps before.

The rate of population growth is far outpacing the number of schools that are moving up to I-A.

Digging even further, the total number of Division I schools (both I-A and I-AA -- sorry don't use that other BS acronym) rarely ever increases meaning there is a lot more talent to spread out as population growth continues to increase. This is one reason I think you see I-AA schools beating I-A schools more and more. You almost never saw a I-AA upset 20 years ago.

Also, I think kids are getting smarter about this stuff. Yeah, kids still want to play for the SEC, but more and more kids are saying hey I can start early and become a star at school B or I can go sit on the bench and maybe get a chance to play as a senior at school A. More and more kids are looking at this intellectually more than they did in the past though I have no data to back that. Just a sense I get from seeing how Gen Y and the millennials do things.

The one thing that doesn't seem to be getting better is the coaching. While we're seeing better talent spread among more schools I wonder if the focus on recruiting has been elevated to the detriment of the coaches who know the x's and o's? I see a lot more sloppy games and less well played games than I did just 10 years ago.
