Ok what team is leaving? I don't see CUSA going to 15 just so JMU can join.

Or what team is coming with them?

My speculation would be that CUSA probably has knowledge that UTEP is leaving for the MWC; because Navy is putting the pressure on AF to join the AAC.

Geographically if we lose someone out west, you'd think we'd go west for a replacement (Arkansas St.,Texas St., or Louisiana). Maybe we're going to 16....

I just don't see this happening. I thought BB was told by the Presidents and ADs that we were fine at 14. I know the JMU crowd -- or some of them -- have been hoping for a C-USA invite, but this seems to be coming straight out of the blue. I also agree with the poster who said that he hopes no one leaves. I am growing very accustomed to our current line up and like it.

RE: JMU to CUSA presser next Friday "It's a Done Deal"
It's been pretty interesting watching the evolution of JMU fans the last decade. I'll say Rufus is the only JMU fan that actually got it a decade ago...

Quote:Timeline of the Average JMU fan

2005...screw CUSA 2.0/D1a, we're defending national champs who'd want to be in that crappy conference and play in toilet bowls..

2008...screw CUSA 2.0 and FBS they suck, we got App State and playoffs WHOOOOO

2010..Oh boy we are going to have fun kicking our new whipping boy ODU around in the CAA the next few years, life is great

2011...half the fanbase says Oh ****/ the other says oh boy were going to win multiple national championships now

2012...hmm everyone really left

2013....you know that CUSA 3.0 is looks pretty good

2014.......Here we come MAC/Belt,

2015.......GD the MAC is awesome, Motor City here we come

Possible alignment for 15-member C-USA:

Western Division: La. Tech, North Texas, Rice, UTEP, UTSA
Central Division: Middle Tennessee, Southern Miss, UAB, WKU
Eastern Division: Charlotte, JMU, Marshall, ODU

FAU and FIU alternate every 2 years between East and Central, but play each other every year.

Some of you all are forgetting that the CUSA Commissioner and some of the CUSA Presidents had just recently taken a tour of JMU. There was a thread on it. It seems like the next shoe to drop for CUSA is UTEP, because we had a thread showing that they wanted to be in the MWC.

Geography aside, those would be much better replacements. Nothing against JMU, as they are a very good FCS school. But C-USA does not want to become FBS's entry-level league.

I would rather add a team from a new state. To me Arkansas State makes the most sense if CUSA lost a team like UTEP. I see no benefit in adding another Eastern team. And why 2 teams in Virginia which isn't exactly a powerhouse state? Heck I would add Georgia Southern first to get into Georgia if I was staying East.

Three divisions would not work. Who would play in the title game?

Memphis was going to the BE every Tuesday for 5 years straight. I guess JMU will do the same with CUSA.

They were supposedly on campus last weekend for the Charlotte game. Another piece of the puzzle.

Hopefully it goes like this:

Air Force and Army to AAC
UTEP to MWC
JMU to CUSA

I can see UTEP wanting out and all but the UTSA/UTEP rivalry has a lot of potential.

RE: JMU to CUSA presser next Friday "It's a Done Deal"
like I said....99.8% chance JMU to CUSA.

as to the uneven number of 15, I tend to believe that it's a member leaving for the MWC. whether that's Rice, UTEP, some other school...don't know.

but the MWC can't stay at 11 for hoops. that means someone is not playing a conference game in Jan/Feb/Mar on Saturday. NO ONE likes that scenario. So they will add 1 more at some point. you can work with 13 in football have someone sit out...byes are normal in football and encouraged due to the nature of the sport.

so, put the pieces together:

JMU to CUSA
CUSA commish says no to 16 (although I know of another reason why he said this when he did)
No other schools being mentioned as CUSA candidates to get to 16

it adds up to someone leaving.

that's because you don't know anything about JMU.

Apparently reading comprehension is not the strong suit of JMU alumni.

I read fine.

you said ASU, TSU and ULL would all be better replacements.

apparently, CUSA didn't agree.

adding an FCS school... this is how many FCS schools CUSA has added in this motion of realignment?
