RE: Hey Tulane...Any new Stadium Pictures?
We had 40k attendance once upon a time. It'll take a decade of winning 6+ to get back there

I lived down there during the undefeated 98 season. Crowds grew all year, and the season ender in the dome against la tech ( I think?) had quite the atmosphere iirc.

I second that. Tulane has been in existence longer than those houses. The owners knew what they were getting into when they built that close to the campus and like every school, they will eventually expand.

The starting price for the cheapest home in that area is about $600k. If expansion is necessary, the two end zones have room as do the corners. One option I have always advocated for is to eventually buy up the homes and convert them to honors/preferred housing, this will help in retention rates and maybe steal a few students who were destined for the Ivy leagues.

We are far off from 30k actual bodies per game, lots of work to do but TU FBall is on the rise!

Very cool! Great for Tulane!

Forgive my ignorance, but are those houses or is that Greek Row to the right of the picture?

Those are homes. As you can imagine, they are not pleased with the construction of a stadium in their backyard, and tried fervently to stop it. That is also why the height of the stadium is somewhat limited on that side of the stadium. It tops out where the press box is: There are I think 32 rows of seats around the entire bowl, but the side with two decks looks more impressive because of the club level.

BTW, FWIW, here is a brochure for the club level:

They'll need to think about moving. 05-ban

You don't think attendance will rise dramatically once the new stadium is built? Never been, but from what I've read the dome experience is horrible for Tulane, but Yulman is going to be the opposite... folks are gonna love it.

Can't wait to make the trip and check out the new digs.
Good luck the rest of the way.

Can any of you Houston or Tulane guys provide good links describing how your OCS projects got financed?

Just curious on you guys got it done.

Regarding Tulane, I can tell you it is 100 percent private donations. This fundraising principle was devised to deflect every ounce of faculty criticism. It can takes more time to fundraise and may compromise the amount of excesses on the structure, but it will not cause any conflicts in the internal academic budgets @ Tulane.

Tulane did secure named sponsorship donations ($15 Million by Richard Yulman and $7.5 Million by Tom Benson), but Tulane also sold bonds to help secure the final costs of the stadium funding...as they mixed it in with other on-campus renovations.

We are undertaking several projects. Specifically for the $120M football stadium:

$5M from the state of Texas (because of the attached classrooms)
$10M in bonds
$53M in alumni donations
$52M in student fees

Once we sell the naming rights to thefootball stadium (hopefully $20M), we'll shift some of the student fee money over to the basketball projects.

Tulane is building a massive 26,000 seat stadium for the future and you call that silly. Then again, that is about right for your actual attendance. I can only hope UL gets to play you in the N. O. Bowl this year as some are predicting. Louisiana's 50,000 fans in red vs. your 5,000 in green will be clearly evident.

Devlin is a lot nicer than it used to be. I would still prefer a new arena (or completely rebuild section by section the current) but it was putrid before.

Did capacity go up? It looks more like 4,000 now. (from the pics I've seen)
