Marv, since they settled on Johnson at QB they have gotten more efficient offensively as he has gained experience. Sorry you don't follow the conference teams closely enough to realize that.

Should be interesting to watch... I'll be channel flipping with the Panthers @ Bucs on NFLN and also Hurricanes on FSN.

Should be a good game, hope to squeak out a win on the road. BTW, w/ all the Floridians on MU's team, they don't play well in cold weather. At all. Hope they don't let the "cold" weather affect them like they have the last couple yrs., if they do, MTSU winning easily isn't out of the realm of possibility. I think it'll be tight, 24-21 MU. I hope...

I follow the conference teams closely enough to have told you that Marshall was going to struggle to beat FAU. I knew that even though you and others were thinking that it was going to be a cake walk. FAU's problem is youth and just being sloppy.

I also follow CUSA closely enough to know that Marshall is in for a real tussle tonight at MTSU. I see a MTSU win, but then again that is why they play the games.

Let's be honest. MTSU is terrible. Their offense is pathetic. Their defense could be pretty good, but they suck. They are way too aggressive and put far too much emphasis on takeaways, which leads to many missed tackles/unnecessary completions and some of the worst defensive stats in CFB. But they do get ALOT of takeaways. I also think Marshall will up the tempo tonight. We've had a 4 week experiment in playing 'Bama ball, i.e., slowing it down. I think we get our 2 best backs back tonight, and I think the pace increases to 85-90 plays. At least I think that's what the coaches are saying in their coded public statements.

Bottom line is this. If Marshall turns it over, they WILL lose. But if Marshall stays clean, with 1 or fewer TO's, they will utterly destroy MTSU. I think there is little or no chance of a close Marshall win. Turn it over, you could see a low scoring MTSU win. I think they play it clean (I'm an optimist).

Marshall 38, MTSU 0.

Come on man. There is no need to take it there. MTSU is a good team that has been bitten by injuries and a bad streak. You know as well as any Marshall fan that we do not always show up on the road. If this game were at home I would all for calling the blowout. However we are at their place and it is going to be a tough game to come away with.

Now if we go in there and Legg finally stops being stupid (highly doubtful) and goes up tempo and runs the offense we excel at then yes we will win but 14+. However I have read his quotes and nothing is changing. His still believes we need to pound the middle with 170lb backs and control the clock. NOT WHAT WE ARE GOOD AT.

This game scares me. You can say they suck and be like that but in reality that is not the case.

Marshall 38, MTSU 0.

You just blew through some obvious red flags:

-Marshall is tied for 59th in the nation with a bunch of teams for fumbles lost;

-Marshall is tied for 51st in the nation with a bunch of teams for passes that have been intercepted;

-Marshall is 59th overall in turnovers lost;

-MTSU is tied for 18th nationally in turnover margin (for comparison purposes Ohio is 51st nationally and Marshall gave them the ball a lot);

-MTSU is tied for 2nd nationally in turnovers gained.

http://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/460

Just being unbiased and looking at the numbers; Marshall has a tendency of turning the ball over and MTSU is really good at creating turnovers. I don't see Marshall winning 38-0.

But seriously...

That said... this should be a good game. MTSU isn't a pushover, and Marshall isn't a world-beater. I EXPECT Marshall to take care of business and cruise... maybe win by 2 TD's. But it wouldn't shock me in the slightest if MTSU pulls out the W at home.

Our offense just has not been playing well at all lately. Unless our offense can come out and move the ball, which we have not been able to do the last 3-4 weeks, this game will be ugly. Our defense is fine. Our offense has to get the train back on the tracks.

Our defense is playing very well this year. Truth be told our defense has won our last two games. Had they not locked down the way they have and played like they did last season we would have a losing record right now. Probably 2-4 instead of 4-2. They kept the game close at VT but we couldn't score in the second half, turned UTSA over several times, and kept FAU from getting too far out in front. Most importantly they are getting off the field on 4th down.

They are going to have to step up big tonight as our Oline is getting really thin, Grooms is still hurt, Butler is in the dog house with Watson, and w don't have any outside threats at WR. Why I can't tell you but no one has stepped up.

Gonna be close either way.

So you have USM beating us at home? Do you have a home you can mortgage to make a meaningful bet on that?

1, This is a free board. We can post in whatever thread we want.
2, If you want us out of your threads, don't post in ours.
3, Wouldn't you want ECU (and other CUSA fans) to watch the game so the rating will look good and you get selected for more national games int he years to come?
