Moving from Nebraska to Miami probably gets a lot of people in this kind of trouble.

No; I don't care what drug he did. Anyone who collects evidence on his boss and then turns him in is a backstabbing piece of crap.
Look up this Matt Edwards kid. He looks like he's about 12. His FAU official bio gives every indication that Rekstis was his mentor. Matt Edwards stabbed his mentor in the back, and he did it in a public, humiliating way with cops and attorneys and self-important management types holding press conferences.
I've been around longer than most people on this board. I've done things that were illegal. You know, there are literally millions of pages of laws on the books. It's my firm belief that following one's own moral compass is the imperative one must obey first, and unless this Edwards character is a flat-out sociopath, he knows that what he did is wrong. I've never done anything like that. What Edwards did was so much worse than sniffing some stupid line of dust.
This is not unprecedented. There is a current head coach in the NFL who got caught lifting narcotics from the team formulary. He still has his job. His accusers don't. We like to watch football teams on TV and pretend they're a bunch of boy scouts. They're not. If you knew football players in high school or college, what were they like? Were they like the Drew Brees image portrayed in public service announcements? I bet they weren't.
We need to stop being a society of sheep. If Carl Pellini wants to snort coke on a bye week, good for him. At least he's not a backstabbing ninny.

There are few things you need to consider:
1. Not all people follow their moral compass first. There are a decent number of people who have a set of morals, BUT will follow the law above those morals when there is a conflict. Cops all the time have told people "I know this law is stupid, but I have to write you a ticket for this. Sorry..."
2. There are also some people that consider the law to be a moral code in itself (to some extent, usually). I think this line of thought is scary - but it exists and there's nothing WRONG with it.
3. You don't know if there is "legalese" in Matt Edwards' contract telling him to report all misdeeds done. If someone else finds out what happens then Matt could lose his job over KNOWING about what was going on and doing nothing.
4. Most people would turn in their boss if the offense was serious.
If I were Matt Edwards, I would have just resigned from my position and found a start somewhere else. Life is too short to entangle yourself with cocaine users.

Matt Edwards has a responsibility to not only the kids he recruited, but also, their parents. If this guy is getting "wired-up" in public view, you can only imagine what is happening behind closed doors. If my son was playing football for FAU, I would definitely want to know if the head coach is all yeyo'd up.

First of all, wow...not even sure where to begin with this. Second, according to FAU reporter Dieter Kurtenbach, there is more to this story that the Sun Sentinel's lawyers have not cleared him to publish yet. Read his Twitter timeline...he's not very pleased about the lawyers...
Anyway, you may want to withhold judgment on anybody here until the full story is out there. Apparently, there is more than drug use involved...

Dieter tweeted a few minutes ago (He has since deleted the tweet) that Carl Pelini's family has been unable to contact him since he resigned.
I hope he's ok and hasnt done something stupid to himself or others.

I'm told hasn't been unable to contact Carl Pelini since he resigned. This includes his *nephew* Jack, who remains on the FAUs staff

No point in arguing with a nut. He already said he wishes FAU never wins another game because Schnelly founded our program. But his Eagles are doing a might fine job of not ever winning a game again for him. It's already 28-0 Marshall with 11 minutes left in the second quarter. He clearly has something unpleasant up his ass, and blames us for it. Pretty cool though, somebody other than FIU hates us.

As much as some of you FAU fans want us to hate you....WE DON'T. Not any more or less than any other state school, like FGCU or FAMU or UNF or even UCF. You've been tagging along with us for 20+ years and circumstances don't seem to allow us to shake you. But that's it; no reason for hate....so give it a rest.
