Haskell Observations
118-50something. Haskell was a well drilled team with a couple of good players, but the typical "exhibition" team. About all you can get from a game like this is an idea of what the individual players can do - who has adapted to the system, in shape, worked on their skill improvement etc. So I'll stay with that.

Returners -

James Woodard - I think he had an off night offensively and missed some shots he normally made last year.

Deandre Wright - I was hoping to see a more aggressive player and he was in spurts, but overall, it was a marginal night for him IMO.

Swilling - I hadn't noticed he was having a good scoring night until I saw it on the scoreboard. He is somewhat more athletic.

Swannegan - He is perhaps the most athletic of the posts and can be a force inside with time.

Harrison - improved his perimeter shot, but didn't do his patented driving as much last night. I think this is his breakout year.

Ray - nice game, bit an unspectacular one. DM played he and SH a lot on the floor at the same time.

Rashad Smith - IMO he was the best player on the floor, but is also unspectacular. He can play inside or out. Maybe the difference maker.

Peete - another quiet night, but he IS solid and looks a bit quicker.

Newcomers -

Curtis - A fairly nice player who is what I'd call a swing man (able to attack and breakdown a defense, but hit that jumper). Will push for playing time.

Edogi - A decent but young player that has potential.

Evans - Not a real banger as I'd hoped, but is more a bigger player who has a medium players game. Has skill, but its more like a "swing man" than a post.

Repichowski - Wow! Just wow! This may just be a stupid, ridiculous statement to make, but this kid (is he truly 6-5?) has the nicest looking perimeter jump shot I've seen since Steve Harris. I had to rub my eyes when I saw that shooting form. He's young, but you can just tell he has that demeanor, confidence and moxi. Where did they find THIS kid? Wow! I hope I'm not wrong, but from what I saw last night, this is going to be a really great player at TU. A true freshman that the fans are going to fall in love with. IMO

In summation - I think the returning players are generally better overall, but may not "exceed" our expectations, just meet it and the newcomers can definitely help. And that Repichowski kid has unlimited potential IMO. There'll be a lot of people at the Don that will learn how to spell his name even if they flunked spelling in junior high.

RE: Haskell Observations
BTW, I just checked the box score and Repichowski had 19 points in just 11 minutes of PT. Now thats production!

RE: Haskell Observations
Good post Rabid, I only saw the last couple minutes of the first half & all the second half. I agree with your observations.
Here is a little more to add :

I thought Evans looked a little lost & a little slow. I was not impressed at all. I hope he can adjust & be a solid inside contributor for us.

I was also impressed with "Rep". I liked his soft, free throw line jump shot. Then he got hot from 3 & really lit it up !

I liked how quickly we got the ball down the court. I noticed on a replay of one of Rep's 3s that the shot clock was just turning to "30" when the ball went thru the net. That means in 5 seconds we in-bounded the ball, threw it all the way to the corner & Rep hit a baseline 3 ! With Woj, we rarely got to halfcourt at "30" on the shot clock.

I thought Curtis has a nice all around game. He can handle the ball, slow or up tempo, he can create his own shot, he can pass it well & he can rebound well on either end. I really liked his offside-rebound-put-back. That seems like such an obvious play, but so few players seem to know how to read where the ball will go, get themselves in position & actually make that play. I think he will help us a lot this season.

I didn't get to see enough of the returnees to change my opinion on any of them. Swilling did lose a few pounds & looks quicker. He can still hit the 3. Harrison did hit a jump shot. Smith is a good kick-out passer. He set up at least 2 of Swilling's 3 pointers.

I think we are going to score a lot more points this year. I think one of our biggest strengths will be wearing down opponents & putting them away in the last 5-10 minutes of the game. I think we will easily go 10 deep this year.

If a couple of our youngsters keep improving, we could really be good this season !
