NT loses to UTSA or Tulsa
Marshall beats ECU
Rice hosts Marshall in Houston for all the marbles (higher BCS ranking on tiebreaker).
All other scenarios stink for Rice b/c they laid egg in Denton to ruin an otherwise solid season.
Go Herd!!
On related note, did not know there were 34 spots between Marshall and ECU in BCS standings. Seems a bit much.

Your problem there is if we beat ECU we will likely receive some vote in the next polls which would jump us from 70 to the 30's. You would need to have more votes than us to host. You might, but you might not.
Good one.

You obviously don't understand how the BCS rankings work. I just figured it out myself a few days ago. I'll be quick.
Anyone who receives a vote in either the Harris or coaches poll is automatically moved ahead of everyone who doesn't have a vote. Everyone without a vote is ranked based on their computer rating. ECU was around 46-48 last week but they picked up some votes this week and moved up to 36. Trust me it wasn't because you beat UAB. So my theory is if we beat FIU and ECU we will get at least one vote and we will move ahead of everyone without a vote. I just hope it's enough to get ahead of Rice or North Texas, whichever wins the West.
Another example is Cincinnati, they have a computer ranking that would place them in the 60's but because they have a few votes they are in the 30's.
Now you know. You're welcome.

UAB sucks period! I don't believe in pity pat parties. If UAB doesn't want to get embarrassed on the field then they should put a team on the field that will not get embarrassed.
My comments on this has zero to do with UAB. Your players played hard. It is not their fault they are not given a stick to fight a fair fight with. The problem at UAB?..is not on the field.
And my comment on this has absolutely nothing to do with you. That said, how do you know they played hard? Matter of fact, what you are saying has nothing to do with why UAB got hammered. You make it seem as if UAB doesn't have a place to practice, no weight facility, no place to sleep. The team ain't f'n homeless dude.
UAB's struggles have been well documented by their own fans here. Blame them for blabbing about them. My opinion about them playing hard is from watching them from the sidelines last Sat. They never gave up all night. That is of course my opinion.
Yes it is your opinion.
Yep...and it was a valid one. Just like they never gave up tonight. Evidently am just more observant than you my friend. Again...UAB's problems are not with the athletes. They showed that tonight.

So if you only need one vote in either poll to jump you above all other computer only ranked teams, one coach or writer could potentially sway the location of the championship game??
Seems a bit sketchy to me.

I've never heard of a team jumping or falling 40+ spots in a poll over a week period.

So, a #70 team can beat a #40 something team and jump into the top 40. I don't know what kind of math they're teaching up in Huntington but it's not the same I learned.
No offense but some of you Marshall guys seem a little slow to me.

Click the link, look at the rankings. Toledo and Texas Tech each have one vote, they are 37th and 38th respectively, BYU is 39th and is the highest ranked team without a vote from a human and their computer ranking is 11 points higher than Toledo and 19 points higher than Texas Tech. It isn't as hard to comprehend as you guys make it out to be.
Is it sketchy? of course it is, but would you rather a coin flip figure out the host of the championship game. Ever since people have voted in college football polls it has been sketchy. Ever since we allowed coaches to rank themselves it's been sketchy.
And btw, no offense but some of you Pirate fans seem a little slow to me.
