You can say we don't belong but you put an ACC/Pac 12 whatever logo on our field and you could easily confuse us for a Georgia Tech, Colorado or whoever with our team, facilities, and fan base

You could get confused if you knew absolutely nothing about college football, yes.

(11-23-2013 03:16 PM)StillJonesing Wrote:  Excuses. You can't draw any better than us in a major American city with how many customers? Yet we have people driving in from all over the state, many from the major cities. I mean heck you got a national championship and still look like us. That's just pretty weak anyway you cut it that we out draw you playing FIU, FAU, UAB etc. If anything we got more potential. Our basketball is better today too.

Since fans are so important ... you should get that up to 90,000 or so. Then you could be just like USC-East.... no championships, no history, a second banana to bigger programs in state most every year, no academics .... but with a lot of people watching it. Only if you got a Spurrier, he would be hired away. I presume if you played Stanford you'd easily crush them right? I mean you average nearly 15,000 more in attendance.

(11-23-2013 03:20 PM)ecumbh1999 Wrote:  Guess you missed the ECU Duke basketball game. Might want to watch the ECU State basketball game in Dec. Baseball, still out draw everyone in the state even with UNC and State play well.

Academics? Don't start with that Academic doucebaggery. ECU is a Teir 1 research university with a top ten med school, young dental school already ranked ahead of several established dental school. Top 100 nursing school, highly ranked educational school, sports med, engineering programs, school of music, and performing arts.

In any case I wouldn't want to be in the ACC with such stuck up schools and fans.

You talk Academics yet ECU has the highest ARP in the state and second highest number of all academic performers in C-USA behind only Rice, but ahead of Tulane.

The Duke basketball game? You mean the one where you lost convincingly? Yea I did miss. So did most everybody else who isn't a Duke or ECU fan, because the outcome was exactly what you would expect the opponent was a snoozer.

If you're going to try to talk up ECU's weak academic credentials, try not to misspell Tier. It severely undermines your argument.

All ratings admittedly have their issues ... but this is one of the better ones. Keep onnnnnnn scrolling. You get to ECU ... eventually. After the entire ACC. http://www.topuniversities.com/universit...se+search=

By 9 is handily? When it was within 3 under 3 minutes.

Sorry for the spelling error, but I do have dyslexia. Kinda hard to fix a mistake when your brain won't allow you to see it.

Oh, the whole list is invalid with UNC up there with their 51+ no show/fake classes. In fact I went to the ECU/UNC game and left with a masters in sports science.03-lmfao

You beat the worst team in the conference and a reeling UNC that is only just above the absolute cellar of the conference. (And you didn't play WF or Duke).

So .. uhmm .... woo?

They are Private Schools, between the big 3 public schools, we were better, a lot better. No cares about fake and puke.

Puke is the only team in the state that could give us a actually game, where our 4th string D wouldn't play.

Actually they do, indirectly, by generating revenue that helps with all those other things.

Oh, the NFL plays on Saturdays in Atlanta? I didn't know that.

Also, the majority of the fans in attendance at your average ECU game drive for more than 1 hour to get there. Many come from places where there are plenty of other options, from the coast to Raleigh (where there are actual Saturday events to compete with, such as UNC and NC State games).

03-lmfao You aren't better at football or basketball than ECU today. At the very worst we are similar, and that's a bigger indictment on your program and how little you have built if you think we are inferior. Your facilities and fanbase are weak even with a much better schedule, resources, major city, and conference to recruit and have to build with. What the heck have you really built over the years? Some 40 something drawing mid level football program. I mean how sad is it that you really look today just about like some school on the field and in the stands that is in a conference with UAB, Rice, and Marshall.

Our foundational things are already as good and if anything we have the better trajectory and potential based on building it in a much tougher situation. Ruff's an alum not going anywhere either and if anyone really wanted Johnson he'd be gone too, so not sure where you were going with that. Even LSU can have their coach hired away. You need to look in the mirror about what your athletics are really about before you try to dog someone that looks just like you and has done more with less. You can't even stay ahead of us with all the advantages. We know how to build beyond our means and that certainly bodes a lot better for our programs longterm than yours.

And yet you still lost to a 6-6 Illinois team in your magical 11-1 season. Like I said ... when you have to get up more than 2 or 3 times a year.....

But hey, I'll give you that you're decidedly in the upper half of the lesser conferences you play in. Much like Chan Gailey, you have an uncanny ability to seek out 7-5/8-5. For ever season you churn out justtttt better than that (9-5! ho ho ho!) you can expect a 6-7 ... or a 1-11 or a 2-9. But you do have a few SoCon titles. And uhh ... like 2 or 3 C-USA titles. So there is that.

You would lose against a very average GT football squad, and a still-digging-out-of-oblivion-from-P***-H***** GT basketball squad.

You measure yourself by beating ACC teams from NC having bad years, which you can't even do that well either. You don't even have a winning record against Duke, which spent over 50 years hovering between historically awful, awful, and bad. Your only decent number is the most irrelevant one: attendance. Even then you average nearly 10,000 below capacity of your own stadium despite being the only game in town for entertainment in BFE ENC. Keep soothing yourself over with that. Much like a 0-11 USC-East packing in 70,000+ ... you'll still suck ... you'll still be irrelevant ... but at least there will be plenty of company to share the fail.

We got screwed in that game by the officials, nothing new for the Big-10, nore was their too little too lated public apology for the call.

We haven't had a 1-11 or 2-9 season since 03-04, 1992 before that, only 2 losing seasons since 05, missed a bowl only once in that time. Better winning % since 05 than every other FBS school in NC, despite all the advantages they have. We are now 9-6 against NC State in the past 15 games even with there advantage in revenue, recruiting, exposure, BCS AQ status.

BTW 1999 ECU was 5-0 against BCS teams. Well that's getting up more than 2-3 times.

A tie is not a loss. And unlike ECU in '91, we played a schedule where more than just two teams (Cuse, NCST) had a pulse. We played and beat three teams that finished ranked including a then #1. The non-ranked competition was better as well.

I mean for FFS you're invoking THE PEACH BOWL as some sort of crowning jewel. Yessssssss the Peach Bowl ... where the ACC sends a team good enough to make a run but not good enough to win the conference. 03-yawn

Ah, Pitt was ranked when we beat them in 1991. We beat 3 ranked teams, South Carolina, VT. And got screwed in the first game of the year, still finished in the top 10. Nothing you say is going to change those facts.
