Should be interesting. I think ECU has the edge on O, I think MU has the edge on D. We play very well at home. If MU doesn't turn the ball over and can get pressure on Carden we win. I will say our margin for error is not as great as ECU's.

whichever way it goes

i love it when these things

get decided on the field in a head-to-head matchup

not by a poll or a computer

I actually see it the opposite with Marshall having the better O and ECU the better D, but really I see very little separating these teams on offense, defense, or overall.

The venue is important. ECU has played well on the road in big games but Marshall is way better in Huntington than they are on the road.

Just from what I have seen I think that ECU should be about 7-10 points better than Marshall at Marshall. I think the score will be something like 45-35 ECU, because I think that Marshall is going to turn it over to ECU's defense a couple of times.

This is another toss up game; history shows it will be close and crazy but I have been really impressed with our team chemistry of the last 4 weeks. It seems like the team is really working well together hopefully it is enough to win the east title.

RE: ECU (9-2, 6-1) @ Marshall (8-3, 6-1)
In the last 12 years, these two schools played in the record shattering GMAC Bowl (64-61 triple overtime), back-to-back years with the home team winning in overtime with bowl implications, and an upset or two along the way (Marshall upset ECU in 2007 preventing them from winning the division). This has been a fantastic series. Only fitting that a Winner-Take-All division championship game end this era.

Here's to a great game and may the best team win! Remember November!

Well said. Something tells me though...that this will be one of those games that one team or the other dominates. It could go either way.

RE: ECU (9-2, 6-1) @ Marshall (8-3, 6-1)
I think both Marshall's offense and defense are more explosive than ECU's but I think ECU is more consistent on both sides of the ball….Just a different approach. Your staff is more aggressive in their play calling on offense and defense than the ECU staff…Marshall's approach can lead to more mistakes but if clicking it can produce more big plays that can have a huge impact on the game.

It will be very interesting to see how things shake out on Friday….Going into most games I usually have a feeling one way or the other how things will turn out but I am having a hard time with this one. If both teams play to their ability this should be one hell of a game.

RE: ECU (9-2, 6-1) @ Marshall (8-3, 6-1)
Here's the series history:

Both Schools NCAA University Division (Major College)
1967: ECU 29 @ Marshall 13
1968: Marshall 20 @ ECU 49
1969: ECU 7 @ Marshall 38
1970: Marshall 14 @ ECU 17

Both Schools Division 1-A/FBS
1978: Marshall 0 @ ECU 45
2001: Marshall 64 vs ECU 61 (GMAC Bowl Mobile, AL)
2005: ECU 34 @ Marshall 29
2006: Marshall 20 @ ECU 33
2007: ECU 7 @ Marshall 26
2008: Marshall 16 @ ECU 19
2009: ECU 21 @ Marshall 17
2010: Marshall 10 @ ECU 37
2011: ECU 27 @ Marshall 34
2012: Marshall 59 @ ECU 65

Not saying this has any implications for Friday, just feeling nostalgic with this being the last game scheduled in the series at the moment.

7 of the last 11 games in this series have been decided by a touchdown or less. Here's hoping for another exciting one on Friday. 04-cheers

10 of 14 games in the series won by the home team. Let's hope that trend doesn't continue.

Game should go down to the wire. Have to give Marshall a slight advantage being at home.

Shane Carden vs Rakeem Cato for likely the final time. The better defense wins this game.
