A lot of posters are claiming that UTSA would get the nod in the above scenario but I haven't seen any explanation. I know that NT is mathematically eliminated.

The most likely scenario would be Rice over Tulane... with Rice being the West Champ.
The second most likely scenario would be UTSA over La Tech and Tulane over Rice... with UTSA being the West Champ.
The most unlikely scenario would be Tulane over Rice and La Tech over UTSA... which would give the West Championship to Tulane.

I think UTSA will do its part to get to 7-5... and I'm hoping that someway, somehow, Tulane will pull the upset at Rice. I believe they have alot to play for, and they've shown that they can go beast mode on any given Saturday (wins over ECU and North Texas). I believe in you Tulane. Get it done.

Tulane's biggest motivation for beating Rice is to get out of playing in the New Orleans Bowl. I don't see it. Rice wins this one easily.

How does it get us out of playing in the NOLA bowl? You're listening to Jay Walker too much. No one is scared of ULL or trying to avoid them.
Other bowls offer higher profile opponents. Same reason ULL is looking to play NIU or an ACC school in other bowls.

I really didn't know for sure when I posted this thread. The explanations & the overwhelming majority proved to me that it was fact. Sorry for not researching it 1st but this board actually serves as a good verifier of all things C-USA, which saves me the trouble of having to look up the tie breakers and analyzing those rules. Again, I do apologize for being lazy but as you can see this board is pretty efficient.
