Bruce Feldman says that now that Kliff Kingsbury has been hired in Arizona, he's seriously interested in hiring Jake Spavital as his OC. They coached together at Houston. Spavital was just hired as the Texas State coach in November.

That whole Kingsbury situation is an eye opener. Not good enough for middle of the road P5, but good enough for an NFL franchise (albeit the Cardinals)? The legacy of the Bidwells lives on.

RE: Everett Withers
There are some guys that are better college coaches than NFL coaches. Perhaps he's one of those guys that's the other way around.
I think it's a head scratching hire and I just don't get the hype that surrounds this guy.

If Spavital is hired as OC... wow what a blow to Texas St. It's not very often when a guy that was just hired leaves months later. Perhaps Texas State isn't the sleeping giant it once was when they went after Withers.

Hell just in this coaching cycle, Miami hired Manny Diaz a mere weeks after he took the Temple job. And Kliff, while fired and hired, has only been at USC weeks. It is certainly not common, but it happens more frequently than it should. It is all about promoting ones self for moving up and chasing the dollars. In the coaching industry or any, while the iron is hot you have to strike. You can't wait around and hope for the what ifs. When the what ifs show themselves, minds are easily swayed.

LOL if Texas State has to find a new HC just weeks later. Didn't even make it to the spring game.

JMU fans shouldn't forget Mickey Matthews had accepted the job as the DC at Baylor, but never really showed up in Waco before Mickey took the HC job for the Dukes. This coaching carousel has been going on a long time.

That is a valid point......but their is a big difference in making that quick change from a coordinator to a HC and swapping out HC positions.....especially if those coordinator positions are only 1 year deals (which back in that MM example may have been the case).
