Duck Dynasty Backlash.... Backlash
The rumors are that A&E will conveniently end the suspension of Phil well before the show starts shooting. The family called their bluff saying

From http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-...today.html

Quote:'We cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm. We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of Duck Dynasty.’

Then there was the push on sponsors, one of the Cracker Barrel. The chain dropped DD but within a day they were so overwhelmed that they backed off.

Same Article

Quote:Yesterday it was revealed one company, Cracker Barrel had dropped the Louisiana family. But after threats of a boycott they almost immediately reversed their decision, releasing a statement, saying:

‘You told us we made a mistake. And, you weren’t shy about it. You wrote, you called and you took to social media to express your thoughts and feelings. You flat out told us we were wrong. Today, we are putting all our Duck Dynasty products back in our stores. And, we apologize for offending you.’

There should be backlash and outrage. Phil's words about gays were not hateful. GLAAD and the left overreacted.

Money speaks louder than ideology.

Good for DD...nto that I plan on watching the show ever, but I give them props for not backing down and calling A&E's bluff.

Calling Gays murderers? Waxing nostalgic about Jim Crow? Using the abortionists and athiests in China to make their licensed apparel so they can make a few more $$$?

Is that the same Cracker Barrel that had their own positive PR boast over gays a few decades ago?

Tom in the context of Christianity we are all murderess... Phil makes it clear that his own sin carries no less weight than homosexuality.

Murderers, Tom? I haven't seen that in any of his quotes. Maybe I missed it.

Wait for the results of the latest witch hunt. Pretty sure they'll come up with something, even if it's taken out of context or completely fabricated.

Some people are highly insulted but those are the same folks that got made fun of as kids.

For the record, that wasn't aimed at Tom; it was a general statement.

He's admitted to having it rough in Semmes, AL but he takes things way out of context, I assume someone laughed at his lisp a couple times when he was growing up, da poor baby. I used to punched in the arm and stomach all the time by a black kid who was supposed to be 3 grades ahead of us... Tom the Turd Pusher could have had it a lot worse.

In addition, Phil simply offered his personal experience during that time period....I'm sure there were nice Nazi guards too, but no one would think that was 'waxing nostalgic'.

The people of Duck Dynasty are going to make more money off of this "controversy" than Miley Cyrus will off of her little rendevous with Robin Thicke.

It's sad to see entertainers make themselves part of the cultural wars. It's just stupid to wade in on polarizing subjects when you depend on public opinion to generate revenue. DD is a bit of a special case though since their core audience generally approves of the sort of bigotry Phil spewed. They will get bigger ratings in the short-term, but advertisers are going to have a harder and harder time sticking with the program. The pressure and protests are limited to DD right now, but they will eventually spread to A&E's other shows. It's going to be nothing but turmoil until DD is dumped. I doubt A&E will keep the show past this season, but it can go somewhere else under a different name.

DD will eventually be reduced to just it's core audience because expanding the audience base is now impossible. A major portion of the American public wants nothing to do with perceived bigots and racists. It's sad that Phil has branded himself and his family that way.

Entertainment is a cornerstone of cultural wars. And Phil is much smarter than most people. Especially posers like you.

Anybody see what Charlie Sheen(sp) said?

I found that kind of ironic.

WTF are you thinking, that we're all in a pool and you're gonna "wade" over here to the deep end where the adults are talking, and give us your elementary two cents?

Thank you very much. I have to admit when I'm wrong, and I've been proven wrong about you. I've long thought that you are a completely useless human being, but it turns out that you can occasionally find a minor grammatical error in my posts. So it turns out that you aren't completely useless. Congratulations. Your parents finally have a reason to be proud.
