That's right- Lane Kiffin is interviewing to become the OC at Alabama.

Think that could add some juice to the Alabama/Tennessee rivalry next year?

I saw that this morning and chuckled. But then again, there are people who can't head coach their way out of a paper bag, but who peform well as assistants.

I have no idea if Saban will hire LK as OC or not. But if he does, the chance to say "f*** you" to Tennessee will be -- not the only reason, not the biggest reason -- But one of the main reasons.

I'm cool with it. Kiffin is a good coordinator.

If rumors are true, in a few days, Penn St. hires loose cannon Franklin, Louisville hires Petrino to pair with Pitino, who at least separates his personal failures from his job, and Alabama hires Kiffin.

What's next? Notre Dame hires Jackie Sherrill or Barry Switzer?

I wonder if he'll have the O changing jerseys on the sideline.

I think I read that they put in a new rule on that subject after USC's stunt vs. Colorado, so that now the officials and the opposing coaches have to be notified before a player who has changed jersey numbers can enter the game.

Is hiring a lake a sign of the apocalypse?

I don't get all the surprise. Kiffin is well regarded as being a top notch offensive coordinator. His major problem is his people skills and recruiting. Saban and Alabama seem like a perfect match for him. He doesn't have to be a people person and he doesn't have to recruit.

You think that sewage treatment plant in Knoxville gets named after Kiffin now?

The guy is poison. Relationship skills matter at all positions. Still, since it is Alabama it's fine by me.

He is not head coach material yet but he has always been an excellent coordinator. I actually think he would be a good fit under Nick Saban.

My thoughts exactly. I keep thinking he'll grow out of it but who knows... may be like Chevy Chase...not quite as douche, but still pretty full of himself.

People are surprised because he continues to fail upward. Even if he's only a coordinator at this point, its still a job at one of the most prestigious programs in the country. And you know in 3-4 years he'll be up for a HC position again. And that's what I and many others take issue with. At the CFB level there are hundreds of coordinators dying for just a sniff of what Kiffin seems to luck himself into regardless of the fact that he leave a smoldering crater in his wake.
