I've never seen that many "short" guys --under 6 feet tall-- in one class. Seven? Wow. I know, I know, Russel Wilson is under 6 feet tall. 04-bow I'm just acknowledging the unusualness (is that a word?) of it.

interesting observation. Reviewing Dave Campbell's recruiting lists, that number is unusual, but TxTech had 8 and Texas A&M 5. ESPN considers A&Ms class to be 3rd or 4th in SEC. So while unusual, it is not a killer.

Yikes! Every team gets their turn but that's still a pile of shoes to fill. Good luck going forward and hopefully some from your new recruiting class can step in a contribute in a hurry.

Well, 3 of them are at positions where the prototypical size is under 6 feet (DB and RB). Another is a kicker, so being 5'11" is virtually meaningless. Really the only ones where it matters are the 5'11" LB and the 2 5'11" slot receivers. But considering we're looking to replace a 5'8" star slot receiver, they'll seem like giants.

That is probably true, but we have improved our speed in this class. Size isn't everything..........well, not all the time.03-lmfao

RE: Mean Green Signing Class
One of the best DL we ever had besides the obvious one who did the award winning Super Bowl Coca Cola commercial years ago along with his Mean Green teammate, ie, SF 49'er/Oakland Raiders All Pro Cedric Hardman; anyway, probably 3'rd best we ever had was only 5'9" or 5" 10" as in........Brandon "Booger" Kennedy. Ask former UT-Longhorn QB Chris Simms about Booger Kennedy.

We had enough 3 stars--almost 3 stars and 1 bonafide Armour All American 4 star NCAA FBS transfer on today's recruiting list to make most of our alums very happy. We haven't had a class of this quality since the Booger Kennedy class which produced 4 bowl teams last decade.

Fact is, Coach McCarney is building a football program in Denton with mostly Texas high school football (well coached) products. Amazing how location and top shelf on-campus facilities can help a coach who knows what the hell he's doing in accomplishing that kind of objective.

And because of our DFW location and this area having almost 7 million population, we have many Texas HS Friday Night heroes who on their own veer off I35-E or I35-W for an unofficial visit or look-see at the Mean Green Village and Apogee. Next year the MG Village will most likely have a 10 story luxury hotel and convention center inside it.

And to the other poster from U of L: Rebuilding? I think more like re-loading because I think this Fall's team will be bowl eligible with hopefully a return match at the HOD Bowl game at the Cotton Bowl Stadium but this time with a Big 10 or Big 12 opponent, per the HOD Bowl's agreement for the CUSA opponent the next 12 years.

GMG!

I like the class. It is good and filled with playmakers. If we can get 4-5 starters out of these in a couple years I'll be happy. We talked a ton more about this on the MGN podcast. Also talked about the budding rivalry with UTSA.

4 or 5? In a couple years? That's a pretty low bar. Within a couple years after the 2011 class, 7 players had started games and several others (Jimmerson, Lincoln, Mason, Austin Orr, Polk) have been in the rotation almost as heavily as the starters.

Yeah I mean if 4-5 turn out to be starters/stars, another 4-5 in the rotation, another 4-5 still on the team then we can say this was a good class. Given how the relatively low opinion Danny Mac had of roster when he got here, the fact that the 2011 class had a bunch of starters doesn't surprise me much.

4-5 starters sounded low but when you think about it, out of 24 starters (including kickers) you need on average 6 per year ... less depending on how you count walkons and transfers (which we get our fair share of).

Of course, Mac loves experience and upper classmen so I'd expect a senior class to have much more than 6 starters unless things have not worked out or you have some amazing younger classes coming up.

Looking at the pic in the link, the 2 guys in the middle are both very nice sized QB's. Both 6'4" 200 plus pounds and supposedly can run like a deer. Look forward to watching both of them during Spring Football practice in a few weeks.

What is the latest on QB Dajon Williams on his med RS?

Watching Dajon in this first series last Fall one could see quite early that the guy definitly has the "it" factor.

And funny recruiting service practices such as Navarro JUCO UNT signee Josh Greer was ranked with 3 stars and counted in Scout's 3 star group for the Mean Green last week, but Mean Green 4 star Armour All American linebacker transfer Anthony Wallace from Oregon doesn't count on any recruit rankings list for North Texas. As long as he plays like a 4 star Armour All American this Fall....who the hell cares about recruiting services rankings lists, right?04-cheers

GMG!

PS: Any others of you 4 star Armour All Americans want to transfer to North Texas here is the first step! 04-bow 03-lmfao

Yeah Dan McCarney of the San Antonio Express-News and nephew of HC Danny Mac calls it the rule of thirds. Third of the class become starters/all-conference types, third become regular rotation, solid contributors, and the rest you hope stay on, fill out the team.

Doing this every year should yield a team with talent and depth.
